75 Years of the Biodynamic Association!
 |
Biodynamic Association office in East Troy, WI
|
The year 2013 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Biodynamic Association, making us the oldest sustainable agriculture organization in the United States. A small group of devoted biodynamic practitioners met in 1938 to form the Association, and three years later the first Biodynamics journal was published. Three quarters of a century later, we're seeing an amazing groundswell of interest in biodynamics and sacred agriculture.
Continuing to Grow Biodynamics We launched our expansive new Biodynamic Education Program in response to this growing interest in biodynamics. However, to realize this full vision and create a strong foundation for the long-term development of biodynamics in North America, we need your help to raise $50,000 by March 31. We have received close to $30,000 to date toward our goal. To help us meet our remaining goal of $20,000 by March 31, a generous donor has offered us a matching gift totaling $10,000. Every dollar you donate will be matched up to that amount. Please join us, our generous donor and many others by making a generous gift to help us reach our goal. (Read the full appeal letter here.) |
Biodynamic Winter Intensive:
Animals, Humanity and the Living Context
of Agriculture
This February, the Nature Institute and the Hawthorne Valley Farm Learning Center, with support from the Biodynamic Association, will be offering two complementary weeks of instruction for farmers, gardeners, and others seeking a renewed relationship to the land. T he intensive fulfills one of the diploma requirements North American Biodynamic Apprenticeship Program (NABDAP), but is also open to the public. The first week will offer participants a way of becoming more perceptive land workers, while the second week will extend these themes and introduce concepts and practices more specifically related to biodynamic agriculture.

Community Supported Farmer Campaign
Temple Wilton Community Farm
Early in the morning on Sunday, September 16th, Lincoln Geiger, one of the founding farmers and herdsman of Temple Wilton Community Farm (one of the two first CSA farms in the United States), was tossed by a bull and suffered serious injuries. The farm has appealed to the local community to help raise funds for his treatment, but more is still needed. A new Community Supported Farmer (CSF) campaign has been launched to reach the wider biodynamic and anthroposophical community. Find out more and how to donate.
