Saint Arnold Army Newsletter
Dear Saint Arnold's Army:

22nd Anniversary Party
Saturday, June 11 - 5:00 - 10:00 PM

In June 1994, we shipped our first keg of Amber Ale and with that, Saint Arnold Brewing Company was officially open. Our small, dedicated crew worked to build community through our passion for great beer. It began very small, growing slowly but steadily. The Saint Arnold Army of volunteers and craft beer lovers helped spread the word, worked tours and came out to our events. This is why we are here today and why we invite you to join us in celebrating our anniversary and what we have created together!

Here's what to expect at our 22nd Anniversary Party at the brewery:
  • Live Music: We'll have some great local acts playing on a stage in our front parking lot. The full music lineup will be announced next week. Our Executive Chef Ryan aka Franklin Mint will be DJing, and our resident rapper Germ will be making a special appearance as well.
  • Beer: Your ticket will include three beers, and additional beers will be available for purchase.

  • Commemorative Glass: Your ticket includes a fancy 22nd Anniversary glass.
  • World Elevated Beer Pouring Championships: Do you and a friend want to pour beer from a scissor lift into a bucket on the other person's head? Of course you do. Get your tickets, and email [email protected] to enter the competition. The champions will receive a party for 50 people at the brewery!
  • Food: Tasty treats will be available for purchase from several food trucks including The Burger Joint, Coreanos and Golden Grill. Ice cream (and Root Beer Floats!) will be available from our friends at Fat Cat Creamery.
  • Live T-Shirt Printing: You'll be able to buy a commemorative 22nd Anniversary shirt printed live on-site by Santo artist Carlos Hernandez of Burning Bones Press. He'll have posters available as well.
Tickets are $25 plus tax. With that, you'll get admission, three beers and a commemorative 22nd Anniversary glass.

Our First Ever PUP Crawl at Houston Arboretum
Sunday, May 15 - 4:00 - 6:00 PM

At Saint Arnold, we are passionate about animal rescue. Many of us here have rescue animals as members of our family. When we renamed our original Brown Ale to Ale Wagger, we pledged to donate $1 per case to local rescue organizations.

We wanted to come up with a fun way to present our big check to our partner organizations. A way to involve you - the folks who drink Ale Wagger - and your pets - the ones this beer benefits. What we came up with is our first ever Pup Crawl. Pun definitely intended.

If you love beer and dogs like we do, maybe you've attended one of our Pub Crawls and thought, "Man, I'd love to bring my furry friend along." Or maybe you've been to the Houston Arboretum and dreamed, "I wish my dog were here, and I wish I had a Saint Arnold beer in my hand."

Well, if you have (or even if you haven't), you're in luck! On Sunday, May 15, we will be hosting our Pup Crawl at the Houston Arboretum. Obviously, you can bring man's best friend. Aside from that, we'll be doing some other things a bit differently from our normal Pub Crawls. Here's how it will work:

You'll
purchase a ticket in advance. Of each $10 ticket, half of the proceeds will go to the Houston Arboretum and the other half will benefit our local Ale Wagger partner BARC. On the day of the Pup Crawl, come out to the Arboretum, and we'll give you a punch card. From there, there will be three stops to visit along the nature trail, and you can crawl to them in any order you choose.

Along the way, there will be plenty of beer for you, as well as water and other goodies for your pup. You'll arrive at the last stop at 6:00, where you can redeem your punch card for an Ale Wagger pint glass, hang out and enjoy a beer in the great outdoors. BARC will be there with dogs available for adoption, so you could even leave with more dogs than you started with!

There will be limited parking available at the Houston Arboretum, and satellite parking is available at Memorial Park. There will be shuttles available from the lot to the Arboretum, however the walk is only a little under a quarter of a mile - your dog may enjoy the exercise!

You are welcome to bring multiple dogs. All dogs do need to be on a leash during their time inside the grounds of Memorial Park and the Arboretum. Lawn chairs are welcome as well, as seating will be limited on the trail and at the final stop. This is a rain or shine event. Prepare accordingly - you will be walking through an urban forest!

Tickets for the Pup Crawl are limited.

4th Annual Houston Barbecue Festival at NRG Park
Sunday, May 22 - 1:00 - 5:00 PM

If we've said it once, we've said it a million times - beer and BBQ go together like, well, beer and BBQ! On Sunday, May 22, we'll celebrate Houston barbecue and the people who make it at the 4th Annual Houston Barbecue Festival.

Your favorite barbecue joints will be back this year - Pizzitola's, Gatlin's, Lenox, CorkScrew, The Brisket House, Brooks' Place, Blake's, Fainmous, Gerardo's, Ray's BBQ Shack, Pappa Charlies, Spring Creek, El Burro & the Bull, Tin Roof BBQ, Roegels Barbecue Co., Feges BBQ, Pinkerton's BBQ, Blood Bros. BBQ, and The Wooden Spoke.
