Dear Saint Arnold's Army:
|
|
Fancy Lawnmower and Santo: Now in Cans! For over 20 years, we've been packaging our lineup of beers in glass bottles, kegs and traditional casks. For just as long, most of us here have been champions for cans. Most of us here wanted to enjoy a can of Saint Arnold at the beach or on the river.
But every time the idea of canning our beer was brought up, one of us was decidedly not thrilled about it. We won't name any names, but this person may have graduated from Rice University. This person's signature may be at the bottom of all of our paychecks. This person's name may rhyme with Wock Bragner.
A little over a year ago, we convinced this person and made the decision to install a canning line at the brewery. You may have already seen Fancy Lawnmower and Santo in six packs of 12 oz cans at your grocery store. If you haven't seen them yet, they should show up very soon.
Starting in April, you'll also be able to enjoy Summer Pils in cans, followed by Oktoberfest in August.
To be clear, cans are not replacing bottles. You (and Wock Bragner) will still be able to enjoy our full lineup of beers in bottles.
Our friends at the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art wanted to help us celebrate the launch of our cans and suggested the perfect place: the historic Beer Can House. On Saturday, March 14, we'll be there at 222 Malone St. from 12:00 - 5:00 PM with cans of Fancy Lawnmower and Santo. Your $5 will get you into a tour of the Beer Can House and will be donated to the Orange Show for the upkeep of this unique Houston treasure.

Our New Icon Blue - Rye IPA is Now Available Since we first released it about two years ago, our rotating Icon series has become a favorite with our brewers. Through Icon, we are able to release some of their new, innovative recipes - beers they have been test brewing and perfecting for a long time.
Our newest Icon Blue is Rye IPA, brewer Casey's recipe. He wanted to brew a big west coast IPA with plenty of Mosaic hops and a distinct spicy flavor from the addition of rye malt. The sweetness from the malt helps balance out the bitterness created by the six varieties of American hops used in the beer.
Columbus, Chinook, Centennial, Cascade, Simcoe and Mosaic hops combine to create a fruity, piney bouquet of flavors. Two huge dry hop additions of Mosaic create an aggressive depth in the aroma.

College Station Pub Crawl is This Saturday
Last year, we took our Pub Crawl on the road to College Station for the first time ever. Y'all came out in droves (and we had a great time), so we're heading back on Saturday, March 7.
We'll utilize our usual open house schedule for the first four stops - this means you can visit them in any order. You'll get your ticket at whichever stop you decide to visit first, and from there you'll visit the rest of the stops. We will be handing the tickets out between 2:00 and 3:00 only, so make sure you get out there by 3:00.
At 6:00, everybody will gather at the final stop, and that's where we will award the prizes. The prize for completing the crawl is a glorious Saint Arnold Pub Crawl pint glass. We will have a large but limited supply. Designated drivers are always eligible for the award and encouraged to attend! Here's the layout: Hit these spots between 2:00 and 6:00:
- O' Bannon's Taphouse
- Rebel Draft House
- Duddley's Draw
- Logies
At 6:00, head to the final stop: |

2nd Annual Houston Firkin Fest at Hennessy Park Saturday, March 28 - 2:00 - 6:00 PM
This year's Houston Firkin Fest is moving to Hennessy Park - just across the train tracks from our brewery. Presented by the Texas Craft Brewers Guild, this festival is a celebration of Texas craft beer served in traditional casks. There will be a plethora of rare and one-off cask beers for you to enjoy.
On our end, we'll be tapping a couple of special casks. First, we'll have Bishop's Barrel No. 8 (our recently released Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout) with Tejas Chocolate cocoa nibs, Java Pura coffee and vanilla bean. On the other end of the spectrum, we'll be tapping a cask of Endeavour dry hopped with Galaxy hops. To infinity... and beyond!
General admission tickets are $35, which include a tasting cup and eight sample tickets. You can also enjoy a VIP experience for $70, which gets you in an hour early and includes a commemorative t-shirt, commemorative growler and quality mingle time with us brewery folk.
Get your Firkin Fest tickets here.
