Saint Arnold Army Newsletter

Dear Saint Arnold's Army:

Divine Reserve No. 15 Coming Monday

Divine Reserve No. 15, DR5 redux, is a beautifully balanced, all malt imperial stout with nice roast, chocolate and hop notes working together. And for a beer that comes in it at just over 10% ABV (Aaron recorded the video below before the lab results came back), it is surprisingly drinkable which is always what we strive for. This is a beer that can be enjoyed immediately, or if you have the patience, stored cold and enjoyed several years from now. DR5 came out in 2007 and is still incredible.

The recipe was inspired by Mike Heniff's winning entry for the 2007 Big Batch Brew Bash homebrew competition. The recently released Bishop's Barrel No. 8 is the barrel aged version of DR15.

Our brewer Aaron gives a great overview of the flavor profiles of both DR15 and BB8 in this video:

You can find DR15 at stores in six packs and 22 oz. bomber bottles, as well as around town on tap. As promised, several places have held on to their stash of BB8, so you can taste the effect barrel aging can have on a beer. We call this "research."

Super Beef Sunday at Saint Arnold
Sunday, February 1 - 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM

The teams are all set. The hype is inflating to the proper level. If you're still trying to figure out your food spread for the Big Game, we're here to help.

On the Sunday of the Trademarked Championship Football Game, we will be hosting Super Beef Sunday, our second annual BBQ event at the brewery. This year, we will have the folks from CorkScrew BBQ and Louie Mueller Barbecue serving their finest smoked meats. Of course there will also be delicious Saint Arnold beer, which you'll be able to enjoy from the commemorative Super Beef Sunday pint glass you'll receive.

Like last year, Wayne from Louie Mueller will have pre-wrapped whole brisket and beef ribs available for pre-purchase (at the time of your ticket purchase). These beauties come with heating instructions so you can serve them later at your watch party. Whole briskets are $100, and beef ribs are $75.

Please note, while the event runs from 11:00 - 2:00, and we will have plenty of BBQ for that time, please make sure to arrive by 12:30, so that you can try all of the different items the pitmasters will have to offer.

Tickets are $50 per person and include tastings from both pitmasters, beer and a commemorative pint glass. Briskets and beef ribs to take home must be ordered at the time of your ticket purchase. They will not be available to purchase at the event.

Get your Super Beef Sunday tickets here.

Kinky Boots & Brews at Saint Arnold & TUTS
Tuesday, February 10 at 5:00 PM

Most of the men out there don't know what it's like to walk (let alone run) in high-heel shoes. Our friends at TUTS thought it would be fun to hold a Kinky Obstacle Race for you guys at the brewery before heading to Hobby Center for the 7:30 PM showing of Kinky Boots.

We'll start at the brewery at 5:00 with heavy bites provided by Birraporetti's and beers. The men will race at 6:00, and we'll leave for Hobby Center at 6:45.

This $20 add-on includes a bus to and from Hobby Center, food and drinks and 15% off your Kinky Boots tickets. Remember to bring a set of heels. And maybe a helmet.

Get your tickets here.

Cupid's Undie Run at Celtic Gardens
Saturday, February 14 at 12:00 PM

Cupid's Undie Run puts the hilarity in charity with hundreds of half-naked runners taking to the streets in celebration of their fundraising for the Children's Tumor Foundation. We know you've always wanted to run through the city streets in your underwear.

The fun starts (and ends) at Celtic Gardens with Saint Arnold beer specials. The run itself starts at 2:00 PM, and the party lasts as long as you want it to.

Get all the information, register to run or donate to the cause on Cupid's website.

Valentine's Beer & Cheese Pairing at the Brewery
Sunday, February 15 - 3:00 - 5:00 PM

This year, you have the golden opportunity to turn your Valentine's Day into Valentine's Weekend. On Sunday, February 15, we'll be pairing our beers with Texas made cheeses selected and brought by the Houston Dairymaids. It's an evening perfect for couples and groups alike. We'll have a few of the cheesemakers on hand to discuss the cheeses, and we'll be talking about the beers.

Tickets are $25 and are available online here.

Pints for Planet at Saint Arnold
Thursday, February 26 - 6:00 - 8:00 PM

Join us at the brewery with Whole Foods Market Houston as we raise a glass to support Whole Planet Foundation, an organization that supports microentrepreneurs in 61 different countries around the world.

During the evening, you'll enjoy six international food tastings paired with our beer. Your ticket includes a commemorative pint glass, delicious Saint Arnold beer and a passport for the international tastings.
