Dear Saint Arnold's Army:
This week is American Craft Beer Week, and though we like to think of every week as a craft beer week, we're certainly excited about what we've got coming up. Starting today with..

Homefront IPA Being Released Today
Memorial Day is a great weekend for barbecuing, going to the beach and, of course, enjoying a Saint Arnold. But it really exists to honor those who have given their lives while serving our country. This is the inspiration for Homefront IPA.
Homefront IPA began as a project of then Seattle Mariner pitcher and homebrewer Chris Ray (now founder of Center of the Universe Brewing) in 2011. He called it Hops for Heroes. He asked a local Seattle brewery, Fremont Brewing, to brew an IPA recipe he made for a great cause. Now Chris has shared that recipe with a group of breweries which all brew the same beer for the cause.
100% of the profits from Homefront IPA go to Operation Homefront, an organization that provides emergency financial aid and other assistance to the families of our service members and wounded warriors. When we last brewed Homefront IPA in 2012, Saint Arnold along with its supplier and distributor partners donated over $125,000 to Operation Homefront, more than all the other participating breweries combined (appropriate we thought being from Texas). We're hoping to be able to make another significant donation this year!
Homefront IPA is a hop-forward IPA with Chinook and Cascade hops, and finished with orange zest and Louisville Sluggers in the bright beer tank. (No, you can't taste the wood from the bats, but it is pretty funny.) We upped the orange zest a little from our 2012 edition so you do get a very light orange note on the front and a grapefruit finish from the hops.
We want to thank our partners who have made significant contributions to this effort:
- Action Box - Case box supplier
- Brewers Supply Group - Malt supplier
- Hops Direct, LLC - Hop supplier
- Inland Label - Label supplier
- Louisville Slugger - Baseball bat manufacturer
- Mark Trece, Inc. - Printing plate supplier for case boxes
- Primer Grey - Graphic designer
- Rahr Malting Group - Malt supplier
- The Bottle Shop - Bottle supplier
Several distributors have also agreed to donate their profits from the sale of Homefront IPA, including:
- Ben E. Keith Company
- Capitol Beverage Co.
- Del Papa Distributing
- L&F Distributors
- Mike Hopkins Distributing
- Silver Eagle Distributors
Finally, we want to thank everybody who has served our country!

Saint Arnold Night at the Skeeters on Thursday, May 22 4:30 PM at Flying Saucer Sugar Land / 7:05 PM Gametime Few things go together better than baseball and beer. Join us to enjoy both on Thursday, May 22 for Saint Arnold Night at the Skeeters.
We'll start with the beer, at Flying Saucer in Sugar Land Town Square. They'll help us get ready for the game by tapping a cask of Divine Reserve No. 14 and with special pricing on Saint Arnold as their fire sale beer for the evening.
From the Saucer, we'll head to Constellation Field to watch the Skeeters beat the York Revolution. At the game, you can enjoy $2 Saint Arnold beers and sodas. Yes, $2 beers at a professional baseball game. A miracle of Saint Arnold we think.
Our founder/owner Brock will on hand to throw out the first pitch. Don't bounce it, Brock!

History on Tap at the Brewery with Galveston Historical Society Thursday, May 22 - 6:00 - 9:00 PM
Also on Thursday, May 22, we'll be teaming up with the Galveston Historical Society at the brewery to present History on Tap. Here, you'll be able to interact with items from the historic Galveston tall ship Elissa, including the ship's wheel and wheel box, as well as learn about the history of Elissa - both the ship and the beer.
It's been a while since we've had an Elissa IPA pint glass, and we thought this event was the perfect excuse to design a brand new one. You'll get one of these new glasses with your ticket. Each attendee will also have the opportunity to win a coveted spot on a 2015 daysail of the ship.
Tickets are $25 per person and include two beers, our brand new Elissa IPA pint glass and a chance to win a daysail on the historic vessel. Food will be available for purchase. Get all the information and purchase your tickets here.
Each year, we donate a portion of the proceeds of Elissa IPA to the Galveston Historical District for preservation of the ship.

Boiler Room Served with Traditional Syrups
Traditionally, Berliner Weisse beers like our new Boiler Room are enjoyed either straight or with woodruff or other syrups to sweeten it. We'll be doing some tastings around town (and at the brewery) which will allow you to try it with either the traditional woodruff syrup or our Weedwacker blackberry syrup.
The woodruff syrup is a traditional style of syrup used in Berliner Weisse, often referred to as "a shot of green." It's herbaceous and floral with notes of vanilla and tonka bean.
Weedwacker forms the base of the blackberry syrup with a malty rich sweetness. Then we add a generous amount of blackberries and finish it off with kaffir lime leaves. On Thursday, May 15, try Boiler Room with our syrups at these places.
