High School Social Justice in the Community Seminar with Julia Nunez
The 10th grade Social Justice in the Community seminar class went to the Federal District Court in downtown last week to the sentencing calendar. This is where people who have been indicted appear to receive their sentence from the judge. We went hoping to hear a sentencing for illegal immigration in connection with our course. To our surprise, the first defense attorney presenting was none other than our WSSD Alumni parent, Brian White, Zoe's dad!
Following one hour of listening to sentencings, we met with a defense attorney, a U.S. attorney (prosecuting attorney for the government), the judge, a probation officer, and others. They spoke about their work, and our students asked many questions. The coincidence was that the defense attorney is a WSSD parent of a second grader, Ms. Lopez, and the U.S. attorney has 3 children at Sanderling! Couldn't believe our luck! It was a fantastic

It will also serve as an introduction to our Book Study.

The Virtue of the Month as given by Rudolf Steiner
|
Courtesy becomes Tactfulness of Heart
The antonyms are Inconsiderate and Careless.
The Virtues Contemplation by Herbert Witzenmann is based on indications by Rudolf Steiner for meditations which may be practiced in accordance with the changing year. It directs us toward a path of inner work upon ourselves, whereby, in that we develop our potential qualities, and let them blend into one another, we become creators of our Virtues, architects of our own being.
