Community Adventure - Farrington Farm: This Sunday!

Join us for a fun day of outdoor activities at the beautiful Farrington Farm in Lincoln this Sunday, June 7. Bring a picnic lunch (or make a sandwich at the church before we leave). Transportation will be provided. We will leave here shortly after the 10:30 am service and will return by 3:30 pm.

ECM Annual Fundraising Dinner: This Tuesday, June 9

Episcopal City Mission's (ECM's) Annual Fundraising Dinner will be held this Tuesday, June 9, 6:00-9:00 pm at BU's George Sherman Union. This year ECM will celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Burgess Urban Fund and its support of social and economic justice organizing. The keynote speaker is Sr. Simone Campbell, creator and leader of "Nuns on the Bus" tours. ECM is a supporter of our community organizing and partnership with the Blackstone School through one of its parish partnership grants.

Liz Steinhauser, Director of St. Stephen's Youth Programs, will be presented with the Bishop Barbara C. Harris Award for Social Justice at this year's dinner.  This award was established by ECM to celebrate Episcopal women who have created a positive change as leaders in the community or in the church (with emphasis on but not limited to work with youth). Nominees were judged from the perspective of the ministry of Bishop Barbara, a woman who did not follow the traditional path to the Episcopacy, was an outspoken advocate for the "least, the lost and the left out" and is a symbol of the church at its best. Congratulations, Liz!!

If you would like to attend the dinner, please contact ECM directly.

Farewell to Theresa and Meg: June 14

At the end of June, Theresa Kimball, our Office Manager, and her husband, Bill, will be moving near Theresa's parents (outside Albany, NY). Theresa's last day as our Office Manager will be June 11, and her last Sunday with us will be June 14. We are extremely grateful for Theresa's many contributions to our St. Stephen's community. She has greatly helped us develop as an organization, and has been a steady, calm presence in the lives of all those who work here.

Meg McDermott, our South End School and Community Organizer, will also be leaving St. Stephen's on June 19.  Meg will be going back to school to get her master's degree in education at Boston College. It has been a blessing to have Meg with us these past four years.  Her work with our church, our youth programs and the Blackstone School has made a huge difference in our community.

Please join us in thanking them on June 14.

Father's Day: June 21
On Sunday, June 21, we will honor and bless all the fathers in our congregation at the 10:30 am liturgy followed by a special coffee hour. Please join us!
Trinity Youth Event: This Sunday, June 7
Join other teens at Trinity Copley this Sunday, June 7, at 11:15 am for a small group discussion exclusively for young people. Michael Patrick MacDonald, the author of All Souls, his memoir regarding growing up in Southie during the Boston busing crisis, will present. After losing four siblings and seeing his generation decimated by poverty, crime and addiction, he became a leading Boston activist and helped launch many anti-violence initiatives, including gun-buyback programs. He continues to work for social change nationally, collaborating with survivor families with a special commitment to young people. We will gather in the Ferris Library at 11:15 am, following his presentation for the Forum. RSVP to Rebecca Jackson-Garcia at rjackson@trinityinspires.org.
Internships Available at Old North Church

Old North Church is offering summer internships for four Boston Public School high school students this year. These students will work with an internship coordinator in group sessions, three morning a week. They'll learn about Boston history, the Freedom Trail, and Old North's contribution to that history. Other learning modules will focus on job skills, spirituality and justice issues. In the afternoons, they will work in rotation at different jobs on the Old North campus (greeting tourists, helping in the church office, staffing the gift shop, assisting with building & grounds maintenance etc).  They will be paid $10/hour for 18 hours/week for 6 weeks. The program will run on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays from 10am-4pmJuly 6-August 14.  Priority will be given to youth for whom this is their first job and who would benefit from the additional mentoring and support that this internship provides. Click here for the complete internship description. If you know anyone interested, please contact Ellie Terry at revellie@oldnorth.com.
