July 2016 Newsletter

Wishing all our clients, friends and families
Happy
4th of July!

Every year during this month I am reminded of how fortunate I am to be living in the USA...to have fled my Communist homeland for the freedom of this great country.  So on this 4th of July, I will celebrate my choice to become an American and proudly salute and thank this wonderful country.  For the unconditional and irrevocable welcome to me and my family so many years ago...for offering us a place to live in peace and in freedom...and for providing us the opportunities to flourish and soar. May God continue to protect that freedom and all the Brave who selflessly contribute to make it that way.  Happy Birthday USA. Happy Independence Day!

10 Home Decor Trends of 2016

Like all worlds, the world of decor continues to change constantly.  Always new trends in style, colors, finishes...
So, because it's been a while since I last sat to compose a newsletter, I thought I'd devote this one to sharing with you what's been happening with home decor.  Here are 10 of my favorite trends of 2016.

Black Stainless Steel

While stainless steel is still the preferred finish for kitchen appliances, black stainless steel has been introduced
by KitchenAid, Samsung and LG and are expected a continued gain in popularity.

  Geometric Tiles

Stunning and dramatic!  I'm a big lover of tile.  I feel they're terribly underrated.  You can use tile in any room to create more interest, especially if you're using a geometric tile.  The possibilities are endless!

Mid Century Modern and
Danish Modern

Mid Century Modern furniture is characterized by the clean, simple lines, and it continues to grow in popularity.
However, no one wants to live in a time capsule, so carefully selecting key statement pieces will make a big difference in your space looking updated or just plain dated.

Modern Farmhouse

This is no surprise to anyone, given the huge popularity of HGTV's Fixer Upper.  I too am a fan of Joanna Gaines, who has managed to make "farmhouse" a classic, almost elegant decorating style.

Metalics

Metallics can be found in everything from pillows to tables. And not just silver and gold, rose gold and copper are big too.  The finishes are no longer just polished or brushed, look for them in burnished, antiqued and especially matte.

Mixing metals continues to be a key trend.

I really like the warmth that copper and rose gold bring.

Gold is In

Of all the metalics however, gold is still the most widely seen.

Blue is In!

To be honest though, blue has ALWAYS been in vogue.  It's one of those classic colors that never goes out of style.  So really, it's just a matter of what shade is currently trending.  And this year, it's the bold blues...cobalt, navy and royal blue.

Exotic Flavours!

Tribal and ethnic influences are found working together to bring a little global and exotic feel to your decors.  With saturated color and pattern, they carry a lot of punch.  So this is a trend you'll want to do in moderation.  Don't go overboard on the exotic, a few items will have a big impact.

Florals are Back!

Florals are big this year.  Similar to the big granny florals of the 80's, only they've been reinvented with a modern take.

By the Sea

Seems everywhere I look there's nautical to be found, anchors, sail boats, stripes and navy blues .
A seaside feel works equally well in country, urban or coastal homes, as long as you stay away from too many obvious nautical motifs and instead bring the feel in with color, pattern and texture.

A Tranquil Master Bedroom
If you want a master bedroom that is calm, fresh, and relaxing, consider using a cool color pallet. Blues and greens have a calming affect that are perfect for bedrooms, like in this recent project for a deserving couple of two rambunctious boys.

Artsy Teen Bedroom
Do you remember when you first bought furniture for your son's or daughter's bedroom, Chances are it was when they were very young, and now, only a few years later they're teenagers. And somehow with all the wear and all the years, the room is looking drab and no longer reflecting the child that resides there. Time to update

Western Chic In Texas
Princeton is a small city located around 50 miles northeast of Dallas with a population of around 7800. Surrounded by the rural Texas countryside, many people in Princeton take their Tex-Western decor seriously. So when this family decided to decorate, the challenge was to avoid the standard, Western, decor and create a fresher, more updated Western-Chic.
