January 2015 Newsletter

Looking back at 2014 fills me with excitement and anticipation for the coming year.  It has been a year full of amazing projects, for both old clients and new friends.  The diversity of styles made for delicious opportunities to design, create, learn and grow.

Yes, it has been an amazing year!  Of course, I have the best clients in the world, and I am keenly grateful to them for continuing to trust and promote my talent.  We are ready for 2015!

Color Combinations
Inspired By Nature

Every year during this time the three Giants of Color announce their picks for Color of the Year.

Pantone 2015 Color of the Year
Marsala 18-1438

Sherwin Williams 2015 Color of the Year
Coral Reef SW6606

Benjamin Moore 2015 Color of the Year
Guilford Green HC-116

These colors will aide the design industry, the fashion industry, the floral industry and many other consumer-oriented companies guide their designs and planning for future products.

But let's face it...color is a very personal matter.  So when it comes to the homes where we live,as far as I'm concern, anything goes.  In good design, color plays only a partial role.  So whatever the combination, if it works in harmony with balance and scale, any color combination can feel just right.

Fortunately, we have lots or inspiration at our finger tips.  All you need to do is look to Nature.  Nature's color combinations are classic, elegant, bold, serene, loud and inspiring...and anything goes!  A few combinations, however, are more popular than others.  Here are 8 glorious color combinations inspired by Nature.

Gray & Yellow

One of my favorites!

Green & Blue

A Classic!

Orange & White

This combo is perfect for this fun, energetic teen room, but works just as well in a more sophisticated living room setting.

  Red & Gray

 Stunning and dramatic!

Pink & Green

When I was 21 my friends gave my twin sister and I a surprise party.  Everything was pink and green...the cake, the beer, the decorations, even the guests all dressed up in pink and green.  To top it off, the song Crimson and Clover was a big hit at the time.  So you can imagine, I'm a bit saturated with this color combination...

Still, the perfect combo for a little girl's rooms.

Blue & Yellow
I just love the contrast of these two colors.  A perfect combination.

Black & White

You thought Zebra didn't you?  A Classic.

Turquoise & Yellow

Of course I'm always partial to Tropical combinations.
