Christmas Decorating Ideas
Decorating for Christmas can be a lot of fun. And there's nothing like the festive feel a room acquires after it's been decorated for the holidays. But putting up the same decorations, year after year, can be a bit boring. So this year, try changing things up a bit. You may not even have to buy new things...sometimes, just using what you have in different ways can get you a fresh new look.
Here are a few ideas you may not have thought of, to try out this year!
Dining Chair Ribbons

This chair treatment is SO simple, yet has such impact. All you need is wide ribbon. What you decide to hang has limitless possibilities. Pine leaves and cone are a classic look, but you can hang anything from ornaments to picture frames. And there's no rule that they all need to be the same! Get creative!

The Staircase
The staircase is prime real estate for decorating. But sometimes, garland can look too heavy and cluttered. Here's an option you may not have thought about. Tie long narrow bundles every few spindles. The bundles can be made from twigs, pine, berry stems, etc. Again, just get creative. This is a great option for more contemporary styles where garland is just too traditional.
|
But if garland is what you love, change it up a little by hanging the stockings along side instead of on the mantle.
And no one ever said garland had to be green! Ribbon is a perfect alternative. Just make sure to be generous with the ribbon. You want it to look full and plush. Below, they've used berry wreaths, but again, you can use any number of things.

Candy
You know those glass jars you filled up with Halloween candy...the same ones you filled with assorted nuts for Thanksgiving? Well now it's time to fill them with holiday sweets, or balls, or bows...

Wreaths Hung in Front of Windows
I just love this treatment. Simple, classic, elegant! A ribbon and a wreath. The wreath doesn't even have to be decorated. In fact, a simple green wreath makes a big statement all on it's own.

Hang them in front of a single window, or multiple windows for symmetry, either inside or outside.
|
Not Just One Wreath
Here's a simple idea with a big payoff. Instead of hanging one wreath, hang 2 or more. Wreaths are relatively inexpensive , and cover a large area. So if you have a large space to fill, this is a beautiful treatment.
Three wreaths on your door! I don't understand why everybody is not doing this!! Doesn't it look great!

Dogs are optional. :)

No Room For A Tree? There's always room for a tree! But if you don't have the room for a traditional one, try one of these instead. I absolutely love this tree. It is merely 9 branches, a string of lights and a few assorted ornaments. t's economical, offers little commitment, and it takes up no floor space. Yet a Christmas tree nonetheless! Here are a few more versions below. |
Food Platters Here's a perfect example of "it's not what you do, it's how you do it". If you're going to serve a platter anyway, why not arrange it the most festive way possible? A tree, a star, a bell. It's the little things, the details, that will set your table apart.

YOU Above all, don't neglect to decorate yourself for the holidays. I am particularly partial to painting my nails. Essie nail polish has a Ruby Slippers red nail polish that is decadent! It has glitter that makes them look like they're on fire!! But then again, I DO love red! | |

This year however, I may just add a little more glitter! :) Hope I've inspired! From Our House to Yours Wishing you and your family a holiday full of gratitude and love. |
