You can never have enough storage, but sometimes, space is limited and you have to get creative to maximize every possibility. Here are a few creative ideas for storage in small spaces.
If you're like me, you have a few favorite magazines that you just can't bare to part with, but there never seems to be a "good" place to store them. That's why I love this "magazine bench" idea. You can use a flat tray instead of the pillow and use it as a low side table. Looks like the magazines are placed alternating with the spine yes, spine no.
If you have a small foyer, or mud room, or laundry room, etc., you might consider using a shelf as a console table. It provides additional surface for storage or display, yet keeps the space open and airy.
This is such a clever idea...I'm not sure if this "hall tree" below is custom made, but you can get the same affect using a basic bookshelf that you buy at Target or any furniture store. Remove the top adjustable shelf and screw coat hooks directly through the back of the bookshelf into the wall (make sure you hit a stud with at least one hook). This will secure it in place for hanging heavy coats.

The classic storage coffee table. It can be an ottoman, a trunk, a chest... A perfect place for blankets or seasonal throw pillows.
These staircase drawers are definitely custom! What a great way to use every inch of space under the stairs.
Here's a great idea to keep your garage organized. Instead of keeping your boxes on the floor, hang them from the ceiling. A brilliant but simple idea that any handyman can figure out how to make.
Covered boxes are great for storing kids toys, pet toys, magazines, etc. You can stack them in a corner or a vacant wall. The thing to remember is that they need to be large (not shoe box size) and sturdy. And just as important, they need to be decorative. So look for boxes that are pretty and compliment your existing decor.

Storage stools...that's something you don't come across everyday! I think they're perfect for storing items like paper towels that take up so much valuable real estate in your pantry.
What I love about this upholstered headboard is that it provides closed storage...you can hide all the unsightly necessities, yet still keeping them near and accessible.
How about closed storage under the bed itself! This model is from LaContempo.com ...a perfect place to store extra comforters, pillows, or an entire winter wardrobe shrunken in vacuum bags.
A sink in a drawer! Genius. This opens up all sorts of possibilities to install bathrooms in tiny spaces.
Hope I've Inspired!
