"Sisters on the Go" Get Going in Towne Centre Mall

The Sisters on the Go!

Chris Dionne and Tenille Hobart are on the go. And they are sisters. In the Towne Centre Mall on Ross St., they opened Sisters on the Go café in May, "We just went for it. We just jumped in and started working together here," said Chris. The atmosphere is rustic and totally relaxed. Horseshoes are branded into the wooden tables and customers talk over the tables to each other. It's a down-home, easygoing place with regulars and people coming in to use the services of Towne Centre Mall. Chris formerly worked as the owner of the restaurant Stella's for three years. That experience serves her well for their new venture in the heart of Downtown. Her sister Tenille, the quieter of the two, works humbly away behind the scenes and tends to customers as we talk. This is their first time as a team in business. You can see how their teamwork jives well.

The big pull for this diner is the all-day breakfast. They are the only independent restaurant in the Downtown that offers B.O.B.. Who is Bob? More like, what is Bob? It's a delicious combo of breakfast on a bun including egg, ham and cheese described by the patron beside me eating one as, "simple, and so good. It hits the spot."

The North Pole Stroll Comes to Downtown DEC. 1!

The DBA is pleased to introduce THE NORTH POLE STROLL, a day (and evening) of fun, festive cheer and shopping on Dec. 1. We are planning activities to make downtown appealing for Christmas shoppers and want to promote any in-store events you have to add that day.

We HIGHLY encourage all storefronts to stay open late Dec. 1 until 9:00pm and decorate!

Some activities planned so far are:

  • family karaoke at The Hub
  • wreath-making workshop at La Petit Jaune Fleur (register at (403)-340-0773)
  • performers and carolers throughout Downtown
  • music at: Bistro on Gaetz, City Roast, Hudson Madison Home, La Casa Pergola
  • passport to prizes and a GRAND PRIZE winner
  • photo booth in Century Centre
  • hourly draws that day with radio support announcing the winners
  • Four radio stations advertising the North Pole Stroll
  • Mentions and a "hard push" at the Santa Claus Parade
  • Social media, posters, e-news, and website marketing
  • FREE PARKING ALL DAY

If your store or organization wants to participate in the passport to prizes, we are asking for a $75-$100 gift to add to the grand prize or use for an hourly prize. This will get you name mentioned in the advertising.

The more stores we have participating, the more fun it will be for shoppers. We already have many on board. JOIN US!

Please help us have the best wintry season ever this Dec. 1 Downtown by telling your customers and enjoying the event. The radio marketing campaign starts Monday, Nov. 19th. Please call the office to confirm your business participation.

Seasonal Reminders

Please keep your walkways outside your stores shoveled for your patrons and those passing by.

The holidays are a time of giving. Thank you for remembering your favorite charitable organization and those less fortunate.

We welcome our many out of town visitors into Downtown Red Deer in the spirit of the season.

As it gets darker quicker, watch out for one another if you or someone you know is walking alone.

Smile! The holidays are about spreading joy. We have a lot to enjoy in our beautiful, unique location. Share you Downtown holiday memories with us at
