RACE COMMITTEE OF THE YEAR
Vote For Your Favorite 2012 Event
This award goes to the Race Committees judged to have conducted the most outstanding races of the year. Each year, Racers, Classes, Fleets, or Divisions may nominate an event or race committee for consideration. An important factor is the "outstanding" criteria that the CBYRA Executive Committee will judge as a regatta that raises the bar in excellent race management and illustrates the overall high caliber of racing on the Chesapeake Bay.
The award dates back to 1966, when former CBYRA President Stewart Walker donated an "Annual Race Committee Award" trophy. In 1984, the award was divided into categories for One Design and Handicap/Cruising One Design. In 1988, the growing number of high-level events on the Chesapeake was recognized with an addition of a Championship category. A separate Junior Division category was added in 2002.
Email the office with your nomination(s) in one of all of the four categories; One Design, Handicap or Cruising One Design, Championship and Junior. Please include the Club name, event and class(es) along with your recommendation.

EXCELLENCE IN RACE ADMINSTRATION
| |
Nominate a Certified PRO
This award will recognize an individual, certified by US Sailling, who has made outstanding contributions to the sport of sailing in the field of Race Administration in the CBYRA region. This is intended to help raise awareness within the local sailing community of the crucial role these volunteers play and hopefully encourage more quality folks to get involved. This ties into the national US Saling annual award, the Harmin Hawkins Trophy.
Email nominations to office@cbyra.org and include the individual's name, their Club name and specific events along with your glowing recommendation.

SHAWN HADLEY MEMORIAL TROPHY
Tell Us All About Those Foredeck Crew
Established in 2008, the Shawn Hadley "Foredeck with a Winning Spirit" perpetual trophy recognizes the unsung heroes on the pointy end of the boat. Nominees should embody the essential skills and elements for victory that Shawn Hadley brought to the game for each race: team building, sailing competence, winning attitude and sense of humor. Additional characteristics desired for the winner may include, but are not limited to, an eagerness to teach newcomers to sailing, respect for safety, devotion of time to the boat preparation and 'rallying the troops' with victory music.
Nominations for the Hadley Award may be made by anyone, but the nominee must be an adult CBYRA member. Email office@cbyra.org with the individual's name, years sailing, boat(s) name and fleet(s) along with a complete description of how your nominee embodies this Winning Spirit. All crew members are encouraged to include their personal comments.
