Franklin Anderson Gallery began in 2012, when longtime friends, Karen Anderson and Jerry Smith decided to join forces to promote their own artistic talents.
Jerry is a talented songwriter and has his own CD called "Out in the Swamp" for sale on CDBaby.com, Facebook, and Amazon. We also carry the CD in the gallery. Jerry is now working on his next CD production coming this fall. He writes modern and old style country music.
Jerry's talents don't stop there - He loves to build rustic furniture and does custom work as well. Although he is very humble about his abilities, he is really an outstanding craftsman in wood and metal and he has a vision for creating spaces. Just stop by and visit us to see for yourself.
Karen is a mural artist specializing in nature art. A native Rhode Islander, she studied painting and figure drawing in her home state. Karen loves to work by commission. Her goal is to go beyond the expectation of a client's idea and bring it to life visually. She has painted large scale murals at both the Ellie Schiller State Park in Homosassa and in the museum of the State Park Buffer Preserve in Crystal River. Karen paints in acrylics, loves to do pastels, carves gourds, and creates whimsical suncatchers of fish, turtles, manatees and dolphins on display at the gallery. You can almost always find her in the shop.
We plan on keeping our tradition of monthly events of classes, featured artist openings, and musical talents as well. Our focus is to encourage people to enjoy the "art experience." Check out our website at www.franklinandersongallery.com and visit us on Facebook.
Last Saturday, we enjoyed Skip Staab's Face Mug/Piggy Bank Workshop. Lots of fun! We are taking names for the next class. Coming soon will be Watercolor Painting Classes with Helene Lancaster, member of the Watercolor Society. (Another talented artist!)
Other art, music, and cultural activities and events will be on schedule as we settle into our new location.
Gallery Hours: Tuesday- Saturday 10am-5pm
and by appointment.
