Trustees Visit to Partners

Two of our trustees, Paul Harrison and Clare Adam (pictured below with children from CST) recently visited our partners in Kenya (Little Rock and Andy), Tanzania (CST) and Uganda (USDC).

Keen to gain a deeper understanding of the fantastic work these partners do, they visited a number of the schools and projects run by our partners, alongside meeting with a range of stakeholders, from Board members and staff to volunteers, teachers, hospital staff, education inspectors - even the Lutheran Bishop of Dar Es Salaam - and, most importantly, hundreds of joyful children thriving on their access to an inclusive educational environment.

A Few Words From One of Our Youngest Supporters

Below are some words from Tristan Martin, the son of Victoria Martin, a long-time supporter of AbleChildAfrica:

"Hello, my name is Tristan and I am 9 years old. My Mum has been raising money for Able Child Africa (ACA) and she will be running in the London Marathon next year for them. We recently visited the ACA office in London with my 7 year old brother and Grandpa and met the excellent staff there. I told them about a boy called John in my class who has Cerebral Palsy (CP). I thought that he was very lucky to have all the equipment that he needed. He has a wheelchair, a walking frame, a special chair in the classroom and he gets to see lots of physiotherapists and a speech therapist each week. I imagine that if he was in Uganda he wouldn't have as many opportunities, so that got me thinking, because he can do what ever he wants to do. There are a lot of children in Africa that have also got CP but they have to stay at home because they can not manage any of the things that the other children can do. For those children with CP they don't have enough support to go to a normal school that they should be able to go to. The problem is that these families don't have enough money for the extra support and the equipment. This is why people should not just give money but also get other experts to help these children as well. Able Child Africa can do this so we must give them that support."
