Greetings!
As you will have read in last month's e-newsletter, AbleChildAfrica hosted our annual gala dinner on the 27th November 2012 at the Buckingham Gate Hotel in London - and what a success it was! It was a truly memorable evening with speeches from our Patron & Team GB Paralympian, Anne Wafula-Strike and an impromptu 'celebration' from another Patron, Dame Evelyn Glennie, who lead the audience in a truly unique percussion session!
We are delighted to announce that we raised over £25,000 to support the work we do with disabled children and young people in Africa! A huge thank you goes to all of those who donated so generously.
Funds were raised through a raffle, a secret paralympic auction (prizes included a pair of USED Team GB socks and a signed photo of David Weir) and generous pledges made on the night by Friends of AbleChildAfrica. If you'd like to become a Friend too, it's not too late, all it takes is a minimum commitment of £10 a month! click here to become a Friend of AbleChildAfrica
We'd like to extend a thank you to all of those who came out on the night, and to those of you who were unable to make it but continue to support the vital work we do.

|
We are also delighted to announce the completion of the new bigger and better Little Rock Inclusive Early Childhood Development Centre, which has been built with the help of one of our corporate partners Euromoney PLC and their clients! In addition to nearly doubling the capacity of Little Rock's current site, this new Centre provides safe, secure, fully accessible and modern facilities for students, alongside space for additional services such as a library, physical therapy and computer and music rooms.
Learners will be welcomed through the new & fully accessible doors at the start of the new term in January!
A Dedication Ceremony will take place in Kibera on 7th February 2013 to mark this momentous achievement.
We'd like to extend a huge thank you to all those who made the new Centre a reality.

Partners Meeting 2012. Nairobi, Kenya.
| |
Katy Bodkin, Programme Officer at AbleChildAfrica, writes about her experiences facilitating our Partners Meeting, which took place in Nairobi in October 2012.
"In October 2012 AbleChildAfrica hosted our Partners meeting, with representatives from across all 5 of our Partner organisations, for the first time in nearly 3 years. Having been through a turbulent few years, and overcoming some economic and capacity challenges, it felt like a huge achievement to be looking out at a room full of 17 of the most senior representatives from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and the UK who were all full of excitement and anticipation to learn from one another over the next week. It was also slightly nerve-racking!! They were all looking at me!! Gulp.
2012 has been a rather 'extraordinary' year for AbleChildAfrica and the Partners meeting was an opportunity for us to share in our successes, learn more from one another and reflect on what we can do over the next few years as a group to improve the lives of disabled children in Africa...to read on click here"
