2. Arts Council Publishes Strategic Statement


The Arts Council, the Irish Government agency for funding and developing the arts, recently published a Strategic Statement, which outlines its strategic direction, key goals and objectives as it moves into 2014. The document is published at a time of significant change in the arts, and addresses challenges and opportunities.

3. Arts Attendance in Ireland 2012-2013 Report


Arts Audiences recently published the Arts Attendance in Ireland 2012-2013 report.

According to the report, arts attendances increased in every art form in 2012-2013 except opera, which dropped by 18%. 

There was an increase in jazz audiences, which it states increased by 31%, the majority of which (39%) were in the Munster region.

4. Catherine Judge Memorial Award 
Closing date 16 January 2014

Applications are invited for the 2014 Catherine Judge Memorial Award for Young Musicians, supported by Bank of Ireland. 

The 2014 winner will receive a bursary of 5,000 to assist them with the costs of undertaking their third level music studies. 

The application process allows students from throughout Ireland to apply, provided they achieved at least Grade 8 (ABRSM, LCM or Trinity) or Senior Certificate (RIAM) in their chosen instrument (or voice) and will commence the next stage of their studies in Autumn 2014.

Create, the national development agency for collaborative arts, on behalf of HSE South Cork Arts and Health Programme is seeking expressions of interest from artists with experience of working within the context of Arts & Health for a unique opportunity to create site-specific work for the HSE Floor, Blackrock Hall Primary Care Centre in Cork.

HSE South Cork Arts and Health Programme is seeking proposals from artist(s) with a track record of collaborative arts practice within the field of art and health.
