2. Exciting Music Generation Activity Around the Country! 

 

Louth: Music Matters, a preschool foundation music programme gets underway in March, working with 13 preschools, supported by Louth County Childcare Committee and Louth Leader Partnership; Dundalk Junior Brass Band and Let's Sing, a large-scale choral programme for primary schools, are now underway. 3. Music Generation Research Fellow Announced 

 

The Board of Music Generation and St. Patrick's College, Drumcondra are delighted to announce the appointment of Thomas Johnston as Music Generation Research Fellow for a new two-year research partnership entitled Developing Diversity in Music Education in Ireland. Read more here.

4. 
Music Generation Young Ambassadors in the Spotlight at EU Presidency Events 
 
Music Generation has been busy working with the Department of Education and Skills on a performance programme for a series of international conferences to mark the EU Presidency.  Young Musical Ambassadors nominated by the Music Education Partnerships around the country have been taking centre stage at these high-profile events. To date the featured artists have included The Carabells and Bofield Céilí Band from Mayo, Sligo's Elsa Kelly and Teaspach, and Donegal's Ceoltóirí Chloich Cheannfhaola and jazz duo Michael and Conor Murray.  With three events over the next fortnight there has been high demand for traditional players and our next event will feature young Mayo harpist, Alannah Thornbugh with The Bonny Men from Dublin.  Further events will feature another Mayo harpist Niamh McGloin, Dundalk Comhaltas and harpist Michael O'Neill from Louth.  Follow these events on our facebook page.

5. Dalcroze Taster Day 

On Thursday 4th April the Dalcroze Society in Ireland will present a Dalcroze Taster Day at the Gleeson Theatre, DIT, Kevin Street, Dublin aimed at Teachers and Musicians and those interested in learning more about Dalcroze Eurhythmics and how it might benefit their own practice.   Read more here.
6. Doreen Rao Choral Workshop

 

The Association of Irish Choirs and Music Generation present a one-day workshop and conducting masterclass with internationally renowned Choral Conductor and Master Teacher, Doreen Rao, at the University of Limerick on Sunday 14th April, 9.00am-4.30pm.  Open to choral conductors, choral practitioners and those working with young choirs as well as adult choirs, this event promises to be an inspiring event.  For further details and to download an application see the AOIC website here
