2. West Cork Chamber Music Festival Young Composers Bursary Scheme 2013
Deadline: 22 March 2013
The West Cork Chamber Music Festival bursary is open to composers under the age of 30 who are of Irish nationality, born in Northern Ireland or resident on the island of Ireland, or of Austrian nationality. Composers are invited to submit works for string quartet of between 5-8 minutes' duration. In celebration of the 240th anniversary of the birth of Edward Bunting, the submitted work should be based on or derived from one or more of the melodies from his collections. Three Irish and one Austrian composer will be selected to have their works performed in concert and at the Young Composers Forum at the 2013 West Cork Chamber Music Festival and will each receive a Cork County Council Bursary of €500.

3. Artlinks Bursary Programme 2013 Announced
ArtLinks in association with the Arts Offices of the five Local Authority County Councils in Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow offer these bursaries on an annual basis for qualifying artists.
The Bursary Programme supports artists with three separate awards:
* Emerging Artist Award * Professional Development Award * Collaborative Award
The closing date for receipt of Bursary Award Applications is 12 noon on Monday 8th April 2013. Artists interested in applying for an ArtLinks Bursary can download the application forms and guidelines at www.artlinks.ie.
You need to be a current Member of ArtLinks to avail of these supports. Membership is free and is open to both Professional and Emerging Artists who are resident within the five partner Local Authorities. ArtLinks is supported by the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon.

4. Waltons World Masters Series presents Bobby McFerrin Meets Ireland

To celebrate the tenth anniversary year of the Waltons World Masters series, Bobby McFerrin will perform in a very special event - Bobby McFerrin Meets Ireland - a unique collaboration between Bobby and carefully selected Irish performers, who will have the once in a lifetime opportunity to workshop and perform 'in the moment' at the National Concert Hall with Bobby, arguably the greatest vocal innovator and improviser of our time. Bobby McFerrin Meets Ireland is not just two performances. It is a celebration of the musical and cultural diversity of modern Ireland. In alphabetical order, the performers are:

5. Music Instrument Fund of Ireland

The Music Instrument Fund of Ireland was founded in May 1995 with the purpose of making string instruments of high quality available on loan to promising young musicians. Since the foundation of MIFI, more than 50 young Irish musicians have benefited from such support.

6. Music Residency - Common Ground & Rialto Day Care Centre
The Voice programme - a new music residency initiative & partnership between Common Ground and Rialto Day Care Centre.
Rialto Day Care Centre in partnership with Common Ground's Voice programme wishes to collaborate with an musician (s) in developing a confidence and skill set in working with the older person through the arts.
This is a call to musicians to propose over a six month period how they would collaborate and compose through voice work with a core group of active older people who access the services of Rialto Day Care Centre. It will take place on Tuesday mornings.
Please register your interest & submit a proposal to info@commonground.ie by 5pm March 11th along with your CV. Interviews will be held in Rialto Day Care Centre on the morning of March 19th . Weekly Voice programme sessions in partnership with Rialto Day Care Centre will begin start on March 26th 2013. 7. Opportunities for Musicians
Principal Second Bassoon, CBSO (Birmingham)
Salary: £35,083 plus Long Service payments
World-class music performed by a world-class orchestra in a world-class city.
The CBSO is resident at Birmingham's Symphony Hall, one of the finest halls in the world.
The Principal Second Bassoon will play as required by orchestration and as required within the terms of the CBSO/MU contract. The annual salary for Principal Bassoon is £35,083 plus Long Service payments.
