2. Music Generation seeks Director of Operations & Communications

The Board of this ambitious National Music Education Programme invites applications for a new role - Director of Operations and Communications. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who combines project management and communications acumen with experience of music education. Music Generation Cork City    

First Gala Concert, Cork City Hall, Saturday November 17, 2012 3pm. Lullaby: A Tale of Two Cities - the Ballymun Lullaby performed by combined choirs from Dublin & Cork City, with orchestral ensemble conducted by David Brophy, Principal Conductor, RT� Concert Orchestra. The programme will also feature the world premiere Chorca� faoi Shuan (Cork Lullaby) - songs composed by Fiona Kelleher, arranged by John O'Brien. Full details available here.

4. Let's Get Singing II

 

A toolkit for group singing & choral practice, RT� Radio Centre, Sunday, November 18 2012 9.30 - 5pm. Led by Choral Music Education Practitioners Mary Amond O'Brien (Artistic Director of Aspiro & RT� C�r na n�g) and Niall Crowley (Artistic Director of WIT Youth Choir, Waterford Boy Singers and one of the National Choirs of Great Britain), this practical one-day course is open to anyone currently working, or interested in working, with children's and youth choirs in a range of teaching and learning environments. Course fee €50.

7. Belfast Philharmonic Kids Choir Seeks Conductor

 

The Belfast Philharmonic Kids Choir is looking for a conductor for its Tuesday group from January 2013. The choir, based in Belfast, is structured like the National Youth Choir of Scotland Area Choirs and each singer gets 30 mins choir singing and 30 mins musicianship training based on Kod�ly musicianship ideas. 10. Rain Falling Up

RT� National Symphony Orchestra and Wide Open Music Present
Rain Falling Up: A Modern Orchestral, Choral and Visual Performance for Children, Saturday 10 November, 5pm

Venue: The Convention Centre, Dublin
Prices: €15 (adult) €10 (child)

1,000 school children from Carlow, Meath, Offaly, Dublin, Westmeath and Wicklow are involved in Rain Falling Up. The older singers come from South Dublin and Wicklow.

11. Music for Me

Common Ground recently launched the 'Music for Me' publication.

'Music for Me' facilitates children to play, listen to, participate in and experience the type of music that appeals to them. Since 2005 the programme has been facilitated by professional musicians, in collaboration with homework club staff, and includes weekly and seasonal music sessions. More than 600 children have benefited from this extensive programme over the last eight years.
