Kindergarten Play
Mr. Thacher reprised his role this year as the Mayor of Hamelin. Having been cast out of his village last year by the rats, he settled on a new home in Fire Village where he befriended the resident firefighters. Little did he know that fire- breathing dragons lived in the nearby woods. The Kindergarten students loved sharing the stage with Mr. Thacher in his final appearance in a DCD play.

  Gus & Me
The bond, the special bond, between kids and grandparents is unique and should be treasured. This is the story of one of those magical moments. May I be as great a grandfather as Gus was to me. -Keith Richards

Growing up during the rock and roll music revolution during the 1960s was an exciting and memorable time. There were two bands that dominated the airwaves - The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. We watched them perform on the Ed Sullivan Show and bought their albums. The music from these two bands has become synonymous with rock and roll. The Beatles and The Rolling Stones are "Rock and Roll".  While there have been a number of books written about The Beatles for children and young adults, there aren't many (any?) about The Rolling Stones.

Summer Scrapbook Workshop at DCD
Second grade teacher Mrs. Holden is offering a summer scrapbooking workshop at DCD. Scrapbooks are a great way to save and share memories in a creative way. Kids will learn how easy it is to make adorable and interactive scrapbook pages that will keep their memories safe and organized for a lifetime. Throughout the workshop, children explore different scrapbooking techniques: cropping, matting, journaling, and layouts. Also, children become comfortable with different tools to create interesting pages for their personal album, including stamps, punchers, cutters, Sizzix, and Cricut machine. If your child loves paper crafts and photos and showing them off, this summer activity is for them! Contact Christine Holden for information on the 2016 Scrapbook Workshop to be held June 14-17 and June 20-24 at cholden@dcds.net.
