Book Fair Has Everyone Excited about Reading! This year's Book Fair on May 21 was a celebration for readers. The students were so enthusiastic about browsing for books and recommending favorites to their friends. It was also an opportunity for families to plan ahead for summer reading at the same time as supporting DCD. None of this could happen with out our volunteers led by Alida Coo-Kendall. This wonderful group made this annual event be the success that it was. -Kathy Felcon & Marge Farquharson

Message from Annual Fund Co-Chairs Thanks to everyone who has supported the Annual Fund so far. As of today, we have 79% parent participation. This is fantastic, but we need your help to get that number even higher! By joining together as a community behind the Annual Fund, we not only provide critical funding for our current programs, but we send a strong message of support to the DCD faculty and staff who make a difference in our children's lives every day.
If you haven't yet made your gift or pledge, please do so today! Click here to contribute online, or contact Ashley Linell (alinell@dcds.net, 781-329-0850, ext. 2562) in the Development Office. The deadline is June 30! Thank you so much for your help.

Let the Reading Begin!
It was an exciting week for our rising fourth, fifth, and sixth grade readers because of the announcement of the 2015-2016 nominees for the Massachusetts Children's Book Award. This voluntary reading incentive program has become a popular event for many students. The organizers at Salem State College have responded to librarians' suggestions and requests to publish the nominees as soon as possible in May. Fortunately for us, the list was published last Friday afternoon. We were able to get many of the titles for our book fair this week. As the children plan their summer reading, we've encouraged them to use the MACBA list for suggested titles and authors. Some of the books that have been nominated for the 2016 award are already favorites of mine. One of them, Counting by 7s by Holly Goldberg Sloan is a sophisticated novel for our readers....
