Discussing Culture and Diversity Please consider joining us for an informal and productive evening on Thursday, April 16, when we will come together as a community to continue our discussions about diversity at DCD. Many of you joined us last spring at an evening gathering to discuss the successes and challenges DCD faces with fulfilling our school's commitment to "ensuring a sense of community in which every member is safe, valued, and treated with dignity." On April 16, we hope that all members of the DCD community will join us to continue in this dialogue with a specific focus on our future.
How do we think about diversity as the school embarks upon a strategic planning process and a Head of School Search? Looking ahead 10 years, how will we describe our DCD community in terms of diversity? These are important times and important questions for our school and for our children and we know, based on our experiences from our gathering last year, that the dialogue will be thoughtful and compelling. Cocktails and a light dinner will be provided, and we would love to share in the gift of your perspective and experience together as a DCD community. Invitations with further details will be sent out shortly. We hope to see you when we gather for this important conversation.
Katie Binda and David Coleman, Co-Chairs, Diversity Committee

Calling all Runners , Poets, and Volunteers! Save the Date for DCD at the James Joyce Ramble on Sunday, April 26. DCD is sponsoring the James Joyce Ramble this year. Come represent your school at this great community event! There are three ways you can get involved...
- Join the DCD running team: put on your running shoes and a DCD t-shirt and be a moving ambassador for our school.
- Join the hydration team: hand out water to runners at our sponsored water stop on the race route.
- Join the tent crew at the Endicott Estate: hand out literature, speak with parents and families who drop by the DCD tent, or help run the craft or special activity we are planning.
To make this successful, we'd love your help! Contact Erin Epker or Hilary Rochelle if you'd like to get involved. Details on timing and water stop location will follow after break.

Read On, the DCD Library Blog |

Steve Jenkins continues to inspire readers with his non-fiction books. As I share his work with students, I talk about him as both an author and illustrator. It's tempting to say that his illustrations are the stars of all of the titles, but that would do an injustice to the informative and insightful text. On his website, Jenkins describes his childhood and student years that explains why he is so talented in writing and illustrating.
