Meet Anders, Maximo, Dagmar and more...
when Pre-Kindergarteners present their multicultural puppets at assembly Thursday, January 15. Since getting back from vacation, our youngest students have been putting the finishing touches on their people puppets, adding arms, hands, clothes, and accessories to express each puppet's unique national background, to get them ready to present to everyone at assembly on Thursday.

MLK Jr. Community Service Celebration
Each year, DCD holds a special school-wide community service day in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Next Friday, January 16, the day begins with a special morning assembly featuring presentations by students in Grades 7 and 8. After the assembly, students will go back to their classrooms to engage in various outreach projects. After a mid-morning recess, there will be a closing assembly when each grade will have a chance to present their projects. Click here to view a video of last year's event.

Thank You, Norman Birdwell
Clifford the Big Red Dog was first published in 1963 by Scholastic, and it has remained in publication ever since. Numerous other Clifford titles have joined this first treasure written by Norman Bridwell. The beloved author passed away in December 2014. When Bridwell talked about his school years in a Scholastic interview, he said, "I always liked to draw, but I was never considered very good. In school there was always someone better than me; the art teacher always liked their work better than mine. Teachers didn't like my writing either." ...Read OnClick here to visit the PBS Kids Clifford Web site.
