Fifth Graders Visit the New Bedford Whaling Museum.
Fifth Graders visited the New Bedford Whaling Museum on October 30 and were able to see actual whale skeletons as well as the tools used to hunt whales. The museum's tour guides were impressed with the students' knowledge, especially of the terms they used while viewing a right whale skeleton. The students were awed by the size of the whale skeleton hanging over the main space and fascinated with the full-size model of the crew quarters on a whaling ship, especially getting to climb into the tiny, dark bunks.
Third Graders Celebrate the World's Cultures
Families gathered in the Lawrence Room on Friday, November 7, for the annual Third Grade World's Fair. Students prepared presentations on different countries and also talked about immigrants entering America through Ellis Island and Angel Island. The event included a rousing game of Jeopardy and a feast of favorite foods from throughout the world that was enjoyed by all.

Old Magazines Needed by Fifth Grade
Fifth Grade is desperately looking for magazines for a collage project. Magazines about gardening or homes are especially desirable as well as any magazines with lots of ads, even catalogs. Please drop them off in the Fifth Grade classrooms.
Blue Blazer/Chorus Attire Exchange
If your child needs a blazer, there are blazers in the closet in the Emmons Lobby, next to Mr. Thacher's office, that may be taken or exchanged for use by DCD students. Blazers may also be donated by placing them in this closet at any time throughout the school year. You do not need to drop a blazer to take one, but it does help with inventory. Also included in the exchange this year are white blouses and black skirts for Lower School and Middle School chorus members. All items should be clean and placed on hangers in the closet.
