Admissions Season Continues!
We have two more Admissions events coming up on November 6 and November 21. Please help us spread the word to friends, neighbors, and colleagues by sharing our flyer via email or Facebook. Click here for the electronic version. Hard copies will be available in the Admissions office for posting in locations around your town. Thank you to all who have posted our yard signs! It's great to see them in all our communities. If last week's storm took away your sign or you would like one to put in your yard for the first time, we have additional signs available in the front office. Our DCD families are our best ambassadors, so thank you for sharing!
DCD Annual Fund
As a parent of a current DCD student, you might receive a call in the next few weeks from a fellow parent asking you to join them in supporting the 2014-15 Annual Fund. Last year, 97% of current DCD parents made an Annual Fund gift to the school. Contact Ashley Linell, 781-329-0850, ext. 2562, or alinell@dcds.net, for more information. Click here to make your gift online.
Blue Blazer Exchange
If your child needs a blazer, there are blazers in the closet in the Emmons Lobby, next to Mr. Thacher's office, that may be taken or exchanged for use by DCD students. Blazers may also be donated by placing them in this closet at any time throughout the school year. You do not need to drop a blazer to take one, but it does help with inventory.
Holiday Dress Code
Just a reminder that the dress code details for "special  occasions" are described on page 26 in the DCD Handbook. Special occasions include the Thanksgiving Assembly, Holiday Assembly, and Closing Exercises (Graduation). The special occasion dress code is as follows:

Boys: coats, ties and dress shoes (most boys wear khaki pants, collared shirt (any color) and blue blazers) (no sneakers)

Girls: dresses, skirts, or dress pants and dress shoes (no sneakers).
Chorus and band may be required to wear concert dress at certain events.

The Pre-K scientists were at it again, this time studying the pumpkin by making observations and counting seeds. Afterwards they each had a chance to make the pumpkin foam at the mouth by adding baking soda and then pouring colored vinegar inside. Spooky!

J. K. Rowling released a Halloween gift to her fans on her website, Pottermore. Fans of the Harry Potter series will enjoy reading about the background of one of the villains of the books, Dolores Umbridge. She was the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and during that time she terrorized many students. Umbridge also made small appearances in some of the other books as a dangerous member of the Ministry of Magic and the head of the "Muggle-born Registration Commission."
