Second Graders Travel Back in Time Second Graders traveled to Plimoth Plantation on October 9, where they learned what life was like for the early settlers of New England. They explored the Mayflower, the Wampanoag Homesite, and the English Village, learning many details of the Pilgrims' journey to the New World, their life in America, and relationship with the Wampanoags.

Volunteers Needed! Save the Date for Spooktacular Fun!
DCD's Spooktacular Halloween Party is Saturday, October 25, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Students in Pre-K through Grade 5 are invited to park their brooms and head to the Primary "Goo" Gym. The cost is $5 per child, $20 max per family. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Picture Retakes
Picture retakes will be held on Tuesday, October 28, rain or shine. Please return the entire, undamaged portrait package to Ms. Laneau by next Friday, October 24. You may keep the class photo. Retake packages will be distributed approximately three to five weeks after the retake.

Boo, Guess Who? Second Graders sport masks they would decorate during their visit to the Dedham Council on Aging on October 16.

Family Portraits by Photographer Lisa Hull St. Paul's Nursery School, located on the corner or Church and Court Streets in Dedham, will host photographer Lisa Hull on Saturday, October 18. Lisa will be taking photographs across the street from the school in the yard at St. Paul's Church. A magnificent backdrop of fall leaves is sure to guarantee a terrific photograph of your child or the entire family. Lisa Hull's Family Portrait Package costs $50 and includes the following: * 1 sitting (5 minutes in length) * 1 8x10 print * 2 5x7 prints * 4 wallet-size printsSt. Paul's parent Britt Cavalletto will take reservations on a first-come, first-serve basis. The nominees for this year's Massachusetts Children's Book Awards (MACBA) cover a range of topics and reading levels. It is always interesting to debate the appropriateness of a book for a specific child.
