Culture Club to Begin in October

Culture Club, a group for Lower School children of color in Grades 1-5, will meet after school from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. on the following Wednesdays: October 15, November 12, December 10, January 14, February 18, April 8, and May 20. The mission of the group is to create a comfortable place where children can feel free to talk about their experiences, nurture self-esteem, appreciate differences, and celebrate similarities. Age-appropriate games and activities are integral to each meeting. Children from the following racial/ethnic groups are invited to attend: African American, Latino/Hispanic American, Asian American/South Asian, Native American, Middle Eastern American, or Multiracial American. Click here to learn more about the group on the DCD Web site. Please contact Lynne Mayard at lmayard@dcds.net for a registration form or further information.

Our Web site Has a New Look

What's changed? The public side of the Web site has been redesigned over the summer. It is a "work in progress," but we think you will find that information can now be accessed with fewer clicks and is more easily readable using mobile devices. Because of privacy concerns, you will still need to log in to view information specific to your child, and certain activities do not appear on the public calendar. Nothing has changed about the log-in process, and if you are a returning parent, your log-in id and password are the same. If you are a new parent, click here to view step-by step instructions. If you have problems logging in, please contact helpdesk@dcds.net.

Summer Project Helps Cradles to Crayons
DCD Fourth Grader Brogan Chitkara is a wonderful example of the community-minded spirit encouraged throughout the year in children of all ages at DCD.

Brogan set up his own "Car Wash & Treats," and it was a huge success! He raised $225 for Cradles to Crayons' Ready for School program--and with the generous match happening through August, Brogan's donation will be doubled.
