FROM TRADITIONAL TO CONTEMPORARY IN CLASSICAL GUITAR WITH THE ROMEROS, PEPE ROMERO & DANIEL HO
FRIDAY, September 16, 2016. 8PM
Los Angeles, California - The Japanese American Cultural & Community Center proudly announces the Aratani Theatre debut of "The Royal Family of Classical Guitar", The Romeros, and world-renowned classical guitarist Pepe Romero debuting his new collaboration with six-time GRAMMY® winner Daniel Ho - Aloha España.
Known around the world as "the Royal Family of Classical Guitar," the Romero Guitar Quartet stands at the front ranks of the instrument, and virtually invented the quartet format. To have so many virtuosi of the same instrument in one family is unique in the music world, and in the realm of classical guitar it is absolutely without precedent.
There are very few true living legends in the world of classical music, and few who have sustained greatness and grown throughout their lives. Pepe Romero is such an artist. He has been honored by kings, heads of state and major institutions.
But to Romero, his most important contribution has been reaching the common man. He has communicated the richness and beauty of the classical guitar to millions of people throughout the world. He has become an ambassador of classical music, and, equally, of classical guitar.
Pepe Romero and his lineage are integral in bringing guitar into the limelight of classical music, and he's doing it again with Daniel Ho on their new project - Aloha España.
A collection of classical guitar and 'ukulele duets and solos, the exquisite technique and musicality of these distinguished musicians bring the instruments of master luthier, Pepe Romero, Jr. to life, and also bring the 'ukulele into the world of classical appreciation.
Fans of both traditional and contemporary expressions in classical guitar will be delighted by the range of music and mastery presented in this evening.
