After two major earthquakes struck the city of Kumamoto and its vicinity areas in Southern Japan on April 14 and 17, numerous aftershocks are continuing and tens of thousands people are still forced to stay at evacuation centers and sleep at their own cars.

Cultural News editor and publisher Shige Higashi visited Kumamoto from April 29 - May 3 for fact finding. Higashi visited Numayamazu district of Kumamoto's Higashi-ku, Mashiki-machi and Mifune-machi, and interviewed more than 20 people.

Kumamoto reports and photos will be appeared in the May issue of Cultural News soon.
