Orange County to celebrate Buddha's birth in Anaheim, April 9-10 


On April 9-10, 2016, the Orange County Buddhist Church in Anaheim will host its annual Hanamatsuri, flower festival - a celebration of the birth of Buddha, with food, music, games, crafts and cultural exhibits.
 
 
It is a two-day event filled with Japanese culture. There will be demonstrations of aikido, kendo, karate, katana swords, bonsai, taiko drum performances and many other performances and exhibits.
 
Food will be a big part of the festivities. There will be chirashi sushi, makisushi, Spam musubis, chicken and beef teriyaki, teriyaki burgers, chow mein, wontons, udon, oden, grilled squid, Okinawa dango, Imagawayaki and other delicacies.

The standard budget of the Cultural News operation in past five years is $35,000 annually.
