For almost two years since summer 2014 when the Japan House project was announced by Japan's Foreign Ministry, the execution plan has been developing in Tokyo. And finally on March 10, 2016, the framework of the project was introduced by Ms. Yuko Kaifu, inaugural president of Japan House Los Angeles at the first pre-opening event at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City.
Ms. Kaifu was working at Japan's Foreign Ministry in Tokyo and the Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles for a long time. Before she was appointed as the Japan House present on January, she was a public relation officer at Union Bank and a vice president of the Japanese American National Museum.
The Japan House Los Angeles will be opened in the summer 2017 on the second and fourth floors at the Hollywood Highland shopping center according to Ms. Kaifu and a 7-minute presentation video clip shown on March 10.
The video clip also introduced Mr. Kohei Nawa as artist, Mr. Junji Tanigawa as space composer, Mr. Ryu Kosaka as executive create director, Mr. Shujiro Kusumoto as CEO of Café Company, and Mr. Masaki Yokokawa as CEO of Welcome Group. Any details of their functions or responsibilities were not revealed by Ms. Kaifu or the video presentation.
