West Coast premiere of documentary on wartime Japanese American incarceration at Skirball, Oct. 15 at 1:00PM
 


The Plato Society of Los Angeles presents the Colloquium Afternoon at the Skirball Cultural Center on Thursday, Oct. 15 from 1:00 - 3:15 pm.
 
The Skirball Cultural Center is located at 2701 North Sepulveda Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90049. www.skirball.org

The colloquium is held in conjunction with Skirball's two new exhibitions: Manzanar - Ansel Adams' wartime photos of the Manzanar Camp, and Citizen 13660 , Mine Okubo's pen and ink drawings of her experience in the Topaz Camp.

The colloquium is open to the public. Free parking.

The Plato Society's colloquium features West Coast premiere of the documentary "Right of Passage" followed by Q and A session with the producer of the film.
 
New documentary "Right of Passage" depicts wartime American concentration camps of 120,000 victims and the passage of the Civil Liberties Act of 1988.
 
The panel of speakers include the producer- Janice Tanaka, Aiko Herzig Yoshinaga and Nancy Araki, both survivors of the Japanese American detention camps, and Norman Mineta, Secretary of Transportation to George W. Bush, Secretary of Commerce to Bill Clinton, and detention camp survivor.
 
The Plato Society Colloquium will start promptly at 1:00pm. The doors will open at 12:30 pm,which is half hour earlier than usual. A large turnout is expected. Refreshments will be available from 12:15 pm.
