Join us for our 4th Annual Harvest Moon Festival. Explore the artistic ways that China, Vietnam, Korea and Japan celebrate the mid-autumn full moon and the bountiful harvest through art activities, food tastings, performances, and film.
Create a Vietnamese lantern, design and paint a Korean fan, sample delicious moon cakes, enjoy traditional Chinese music and dance, and watch Studio Ghibli's animated film, The Tale of the Princess Kaguya.
Plus delicious food truck dining by Tokyo Doggy Style! After the sun sets, join the Sidewalk Astronomers for outdoor moon-gazing. Program:
· 4-6:30 pm Art Activities: Korean fan making, Vietnamese lantern making
· 4:10-6:30 pm Screening: The Tale of the Princess Kaguya (Japanese with English subtitles)
· 5 pm Moon Festival Storytelling · 6-6:30 pm Spotlight tour
· 6-7 pm Mooncake tasting, as supplies last
· 7-8 pm Duet by Celia Liu and Yunhe Liang, dance by Shin Dance Academy Group
· 4-8 pm Moon-gazing with Sidewalk Astronomers Galleries are open all night. Good fun for the whole family! Special Exhibition: Reshaping Tradition: Contemporary Ceramics from East Asia Partners Include: SINO Performing Arts Organization, Korean Cultural Center, Japan Foundation Los Angeles, Sidewalk Astronomers, Econoprint & Arroyo Food Co-Op Included with Museum Admission and free to Museum Members.
