The East Regional Event explores in lectures and tours how historic gardens are being fostered in New York. The Oct. 2 tour will include a visit to the Japanese Garden at the United Nations.
The U.N. garden, created by Shin Abe of ZEN Associates, was built around the Peace Bell that was created with the hope of restoring peace to the world in the wake of World War II.
Motohide Yoshikawa, Japan's Ambassador to the UN and the driving force behind the garden, will lead this rare visit to a place usually available only to UN personnel.
