Makoto Matsui: Japanese Traditional Stage Arts Demonstration

 

A showcase of the finer point of the art and demonstration of make-up and kimono dressing techniques as well as an on-stage dance performance

 

Venue: Los Angeles City College - Camino Theater

Date: Friday, August 7, from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

 

Admission is free and open to the public.

No RSVP required.

 

Makoto Matsui is a well-known Japanese actor and dancer in the genre of popular theater, or Taiashu Engeki in Japanese, which is a type of musical theatre or revue.

 

The stories in Taishu Engeki are often set in historical or samurai times, and the performers wear traditional-style kimono and distinctive make-up which often the actors apply themselves.

 

Makoto plays both male and female roles on stage and is best known for his beautiful appearance and perfect impersonation of female characters well as his quick changing of costumes on stage.
