July 12, 11 AM: Okinawa Association's annual picnic at South El Monte

Sunday, July 12, 11 am ~ 4 pm, the Okinawa Association of America will host its annual members picnic at Whittier Narrows Park in South El Monte.

Featuring live entertainment, games and races, raffle drawings, and Bon dancing, it's a perfect place for reunions or a Sunday outing with family and friends.

Non-members are also encouraged to attend and apply for membership at the picnic.

In addition to traditional Okinawan performing arts and karate, this year's entertainment will feature a very special guest from Okinawa: Banjo Ai is an up-and-coming artist who performs original and traditional Okinawan folk songs in the style of American country and bluegrass.

The OAA Picnic is also the only Okinawa-style Bon dance in Los Angeles, featuring 7 distinct songs and choreographies set to live music.

Whittier Narrows Park, Area E-1, 750 Santa Anita Ave., South El Monte.

On-site parking $6. Event opens 10 am, program 11 am ~ 4 pm. Entertainment schedule and Bon dance practice videos available at www.oaamensore.org
