Ikebana artist Haruko Takeichi celebrates 25 years as a Sogetsu ikebana instructor with three installations in Los Angeles in 2015 and 2016.
Mrs. Takeichi, who is a board-member level ikebana instructor with the Sogetsu Teachers Association, is a graduate of the Women's Fine Art College in Tokyo, and of Woodbury University's Interior Design program.
She finds Sogetsu ikebana to be a great opportunity to express creativity, often combining unequal amounts of fresh and unconventional materials to achieve abstract designs striking a balance that produces "endless joy."
She recently served two terms as the director of the Los Angeles Branch of the Sogetsu Teacher Association.
Along with her group of students, Mrs. Takeichi presents two exhibits titled Contemporary Ikebana this spring at the Neutra VDL House (2300 Silver Lake Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90039) and The Hammer Museum (10899 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90024) on April 25 & 26, 2015 from 11am - 3pm (Neutra) and 11am-5pm (Hammer).
A final exhibition will take place at the Doizaki Gallery, JACCC (244 South San Pedro Street Los Angeles, CA 90012) on March 5 & 6, 2016.
