April is National Poetry Month
|
April is the start of a new quarter, and it is also National Poetry Month. For me, this intersection signifies new beginnings as well as seeing the beauty in our everyday lives. Work is an essential part of everyday living, and one of the most rewarding things about a business like CIO is our ability to help keep people working, to help keep things humming along with expertise and a friendly word. For April I am thinking about the beauty to be found in everyday work. In this vein, I offer Walt Whitman's "I Hear America Singing." The poem captures the satisfaction of occupation as well as the way in which work bonds all of us together. Happy Spring!
I Hear America Singing * Walt Whitman
I hear America singing, the varied carols I hear, Those of mechanics, each one singing his as it should be blithe and strong, The carpenter singing his as he measures his plank or beam, The mason singing his as he makes ready for work, or leaves off work, The boatman singing what belongs to him in his boat, the deckhand singing on the steamboat deck, The shoemaker singing as he sits on his bench, the hatter singing as he stands, The wood-cutter's song, the ploughboy's on his way in the morning, or at noon intermission or at sundown, The delicious singing of the mother, or of the young wife at work, or of the girl sewing or washing, Each singing what belongs to him or her and to none else, The day what belongs to the day-at night the party of young fellows, robust, friendly, Singing with open mouths their strong melodious songs.
Cheers,

CIO in the News: 2015 MSPmentor 501 Award
|
CIO Solutions has appeared on Penton Technology's eighth-annual MSPmentor 501 Global Edition. This list identifies the world's top 501 managed services providers (MSPs).
Each year, MSPmentor gathers information for their annual rankings by conducting a survey from December 2014 to January 2015. Rankings are based on Penton Technology's unique criteria for MSPs, for example, annual recurring revenues, total revenues, and more.
This year, the top MSPmentor 501 companies recorded higher recurring revenues than it ever had before. In total, the 2015 annual recurring revenues for all of these companies reached a record high of $3.95 billion in its previous year, 2014. This showed a significant 26.5% increase over the year.
"We are excited to see our growth and success recognized among other top preforming companies," stated CIO's President, Eric Egolf. "I think one factor behind our success comes from investing in the internal operations and processes that enable re-creatable results. We have been lucky in that these investments seem to have been in the right departments at the right times."
CIO produced strategies that helped them succeed. It is not sheer luck if they are good at what they do and know how to apply their skills in the right place.
CIO Solutions has been providing IT management and design services to the Tri-County Area since 1986 and has now been recognized as one of the world's top managed service provider. CIO has helped clients focus on the progression of their businesses by designing and managing their IT department. In addition to managing IT networks, CIO also provides consultation to Private Cloud Services, Enterprise Storage, Virtualization, VoIP Phone Systems, and other solutions.

App of the Month: Pocket
|
Find an interesting article online but there's just no time to read it? It's always the wrong time or the wrong place. The Pocket app allows users to store articles, videos, and even web pages that are found on the internet for later reading. It saves time, and even frustration, from having to look for the article again somewhere in the massive World Wide Web.
Now users can have saved articles to quickly access literally from their pocket, anytime, anywhere. Users can filter the content type by article, video, or images. Once a content is read or viewed, users can then mark it as read and move on to the next interesting thing that captures their attention.
Users can enjoy this amazing app through any mobile device or browser. It also integrates with Twitter, Facebook, Buffer, or Evernote so that users can share with their friends anything exciting that they came across.
Stay organized with Pocket and have unlimited access to the most exciting things on the web just by reaching in your pocket!
The Pocket app is available for FREE for both Android and iOS users!
Send your favorite free app to [email protected] and it may find its way into next month's newsletter!

Tech Tip: Don't Use that USB Drive you found!
|
Like finding cash on the ground, if you find a USB drive while picking up lunch, you first look around to make sure it doesn't belong to anyone. Maybe you even turn it in to the cashier for their lost and found. Many will take it home to see what treasures await inside. What you may not realize is that this is a trap! USB drives may contain scripts or drivers that run automatically when you plug into your machine (and then they infect your computer with malware). Think twice about putting a USB drive of unknown origins into your computer!
