It's the Little Things

Dear ,

"Who does not thank for little will not thank for much." -Estonian proverb

Here's to being thankful for the little things in our lives. For stopping to smell the roses and learning how to embrace, and appreciate, the gift of the present.

To our friends, our family and our clients: May the good things of life be yours in abundance not only at Thanksgiving but throughout the coming holiday season.

Cheers,
John Petote
CEO, CIO Solutions

Check with the Tech: Buying Music Online
Check with the Tech
Q: I get confused about buying music online. Where is the best place to buy from? Will I be able to play the songs on a variety of devices? How can I make sure that I am buying from sites that compensate artists?

A:
You're in luck: while buying music may seem complicated, it's actually quite simple-most stores aren't all that different from one another. Here's what you need to know.

1) You Can Play Any Store's Music on Any Player
2) Quality Is Comparable Across the Board (with a Few Exceptions)
3) Most Artists Make the Same Amount of Money at Each Store
4) Cloud Services Are the Real Difference Between Each Online Store
5) Check Each Store Regularly for the Best Deals

All in all, it doesn't matter too much where you buy your music. In fact, buying from different sources each time can net you better prices and help support the artists you love, so if you're willing to do the extra research, being open-minded can help you come out ahead. Good luck, and enjoy the tunes.

  What's New: Review iPhone 5

The iPhone 5 represents a mostly-incremental upgrade over last year's iPhone 4S. Per Apple's typical upgrade strategy, the new iPhone 5 is twice as fast as its predecessor, including both app and gaming performance. The iPhone 5's physical design is what changed the most. The fragile glass backing that was present on the iPhone 4 and 4S has been replaced by aluminum, which doesn't crack or shatter when dropped. The vertical screen size was increased, which allows for the viewing of widescreen videos and additional space when reading emails or browsing the web. The quality of the screen has also been

improved.

The phone is lighter and thinner than any of its predecessors. The speakers and headphones have both been greatly improved and are much more powerful than before. The iPhone 5 doesn't have any "killer features" that will require someone to upgrade. It's an incremental improvement over last year's model, which is enough to keep the iPhone current and competitive. Most users that are upgrading to the iPhone5 are coming from the iPhone 4 and not the 4S, since their 2-year carrier contracts are just expiring. The iPhone 5 is more than four times faster than the iPhone 4, and has the combined new feature set of the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5.

ERIC EGOLF NAMED IN PACIFIC COAST BUSINESS TIMES LIST OF 40 UNDER 40

From the mail room to the corner office, Eric Egolf named in prestigious Tri-County list of young innovators.

November 8, 2012 - Santa Barbara - Eric Egolf was honored to be included in the Pacific Coast Business Time's annual list of 40 under 40. This prestigious list includes the who's who of young innovators, entrepreneurs and other individuals who have contributed to companies within the Tri-County area.

The article stated that Mr. Egolf quickly climbed the corporate ladder at CIO, starting as a shipping and receiving clerk in 2004 and being named President in early 2012. Mentor and current CEO of CIO Solutions, John Petote, saw potential in Mr. Egolf from day one, "He has always been a very driven individual; always thinking, always one step ahead."

Mr. Egolf is now acting President of a 30+ employee company and he only sees the possibility for more growth, "We have been able to create the operational foundations within our company to be able to grow quickly and efficiently, without ever sacrificing our current level of customer service or customer satisfaction."

The 40 under 40 accomplishment comes shortly after CIO Solutions was named in INC 5000's list of fastest growing companies in the US. What started as a one room office in Isla Vista over 25 years ago has now become one of the largest and most successful IT companies in the Tri-County Area. While the success can be attributed to many factors, accolades have to be given to the founder, John Petote for creating the dream and now to Eric Egolf for making CIO bigger and brighter than anyone ever imagined.

CIO Solutions has been providing IT management and design services to the Tri-County Area since 1986. CIO specializes in helping businesses focus on their core business by designing and managing their IT department. In addition to managing IT networks, CIO also provides consultation on Private Cloud Services, Enterprise Storage, Virtualization, VoIP Phone Systems and other solutions.
