         This newsletter is a ballot for Electing an EAS Executive Committee                                         

Ballot for the
Election of an EAS Executive Committee

The term of the current EAS Executive Committee ends on January 31, 2016.  This is a ballot to elect a new EAS Executive Committee for a two year term starting February 1, 2016. The Executive Committee consists of 5 members including the president.   

We have received your nominations for members of the EAS Executive Committee. The EAS Election Committee has reviewed the nominations and contacted all eligible nominees. The list of candidates are given below.

Please vote for a president and for no more than 4 for members of the Executive Committee other than the president. Brief biographies of all the candidates are given at the end of the newsletter (you need to scroll down)

Here is how to vote:
- hit "Reply" to this email
- scroll down to the names of the candidates and enter the letter "X" between the parenthesis preceding the names of each of the candidates that you are voting for
- hit "Send" to submit your vote
- Voting ballots are accepted only until Friday, January 8, 2016. Please vote early. 

It is important that you vote. Even though we only have 5 candidate for the 5 positions on the Executive Committee, your vote represents support for the coming EAS Executive committee.

Candidate Biographies

 
Soha Athanasios: Soha was born in Cairo. She earned a BS and an MS in Engineering from the AUC and a PhD in Industrial Engineering from the University of Miami in Florida. She is the Director of Services/Loss Control, OSHA Practice at Sedgewick CMS. Soha has been quite involved with our Egyptian community since she moved to the Bay Area in 1995. She is an advisor to the BAE and an active member of the EAS. She is married to Reda Athanasios and they have two daughters: Hana and Neda.
 
 Jailan Eldin: Jailan was born in Alexandria, Egypt and raised in Canada.  She moved with her family to California in 1995 and have loved living here since then. She earned a bachelor's in Computer Engineering and a Master's in Engineering Management.  She currently works at Lockheed as the Technical Design Lead for satellite electrical ground support equipment.  In her free time she enjoys working out, socializing with friends, cooking and playing music.


 Hany Gabra: Hany has been living in the Bay Area for 8 years. He holds a BS in Electrical engineering from Ain Shams University. While in Egypt, he ran a business for communication networks. Currently he owns two food businesses, a retail one: Banou International Food and a wholesale one for imports: Virgin World Foods. Over the past two years, Hany has been quite active in many events of the Egyptian community in the Bay Area. He is married and has 2 children. They live in Pleasanton.

Hussein Moustafa: Hussein was born and grew up in Alexandria, Egypt. He holds a BS degree in Electronics and Communications from Alexandria university. Hussein has been in the field of wireless communications for the last 20 years and currently works for Amazon. Hussein loves photography, enjoys running and hanging out with friends. He is a board member of Zawaya (Aswat) and served a board member of different organizations including NAAP  and AAAEA.
 
Waleed Salaheldin: Waleed has been a member of the EAS Executive Committee for the past year. He spent his youth living in both Egypt and the US and is proud to call both countries his home. During his visits to Egypt, Waleed works with non-profit organizations to provide democracy education courses, philanthropic assistance and the disbursement of microloans to poor families in Cairo's slums. Waleed has a Juris Doctorate from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law, with a concentration in International Law. He earned a BA degree in Legal Studies from UC Berkeley. Waleed currently works at Tour-Sarkissian Law Offices, LLP in San Francisco.
