Ambassador Mekhemar started her responsibilities as the Egyptian Consul General in Los Angeles earlier this month. She is coming to the Bay Area to meet our Egyptian community. Please join us.

A Talented Musician in our Midst:
Basma Edrees, who recently moved to the Bay Area, is a truly talented violinist who earned her Masters of Music degree from the Julliard School. She will audition with the Oakland Symphony as a concertmaster on Friday, October 2 at 8:00 PM, for details and tickets click Oakland Symphony Audition
Basma is currently a member of the ASWAT Arabic Ensemble. She also has an assignment with the San Francisco Conservatory. You can enjoy listening to Basma's music on a couple of youtubes. To listen, click Basma 1 or Basma 2 .
New Egyptian Cabinet to include Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs
The recently sworn Egyptian cabinet included a Minister for Immigration and expatriates Affairs. This position was not included in several recent cabinets. Such a move represents the government's emphasis on productive communication with Egyptians abroad.
Nabila Makram Abdel-Shaheed was named the Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs.
