Greetings. Thanks so much for using Internet4Classrooms with your students and children. Our mission is to help you find the best educational online resources available to meet your individual needs. Our monthly newsletter focuses on sharing information, tips, and ideas on everything related to schooling inside the classroom and at home. Each month we will feature resources and information on a variety of topics. We are constantly updating information on our site and urge you to visit often.

Get free summer learning activities, summer reading lists, summer lesson reviews, and more. Teachers spend on average 4-6 weeks of the new school year getting students back on track. We must keep our students thinking and challenged all year long. Sign Up in advance now. Look for activities to start in June.

Check out our  Common Core English Language Arts Standards. Each Grade Level is full of resources for every individual standard. Students can take control of their own learning by clicking on the page with the standard number, and choosing their own resource to practice that skill. Click on your Grade Level to find English Language Arts Standard Resources and learning tools.

Physical Fitness Month

Exercising is a vital part of living a healthy lifestyle. Find resources about exercise, physical education, team sports, and more on our Physical Education Page. Also check out our pages about Health and Nutrition and Wellness to find more information about living a healthy lifestyle.

 

Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month

Celebrate the contributions that Asian and Pacific Americans have made to society this month. Learn about notable Asian American writers, athletes, and scientists. Find book lists, lesson plans, and student activities from Scholastic. Use primary sources in your lesson plans from the Library of Congress and the National Archives and find teacher resources from the Smithsonian and the National Gallery of Art here. 

 

National Weather Observer's Day (5/4)

Learn about the weather in your classroom today. Find a variety of lesson plans from Discovery Education and  Scholastic. Also check out our Earth Science resource page and Weather page for elementary schoolers for interactives, activities, and more. 

 

Cinco de May (5/5)

Happy Cinco de May! Learn about the history of this holiday and facts and misconceptions about Cinco de Mayo. Find crafts, projects, and printables you can do today.

 

Teacher Appreciation Week (5/5-5/9)

Mothers' Day (5/11)

Celebrate your mom and show her how much you care and appreciate her today. I4C has a Mothers' Day resource page, filled with crafts, activities, and printables you can incorporate into your lesson plans or use at home. 

 

National Children's Book Week (5/12-18)

Celebrate Children's Book Week in your classroom. Find teacher and librarian resources for this week here. Here are some great book lists for all ages and lesson plans from Scholastic. I4C also has a collection of stories for elementary students, library resources, information on physical and virtual libraries, grade level help with reading and literature, and reading assessment practice.

 

Biographer's Day (5/16)

Today, learn about famous figures through reading their biographies. Find biographies for our Founding Fathers, Nobel Prize Winners, famous authors, and more on our Biography Topics page. 

 

Memorial Day (5/26)

Enjoy the day off of work and school today but this Memorial Day, remember those who have died for our country. Find lesson plans, crafts, activates, and more on our Memorial Day page.

Don't Forget: Free Online Practice for ACT Test and SAT Test Resources.  I4C now offers free SAT and ACT vocabulary and math quizzes. Become a free member and log in as much as you'd like. Students can take practice tests on 5000 vocabulary words.Take daily practice math quizzes on over 1000 questions.  Log in to monitor your students' scores - including seeing which vocabulary words or math questions they missed. Interactive quizzes allow the test taker to retake and study as much as they want.

  Technology Tips

Tech Tip #1: Using the PrintScreen Button: Have you ever pushed the PrintScreen button and nothing happened? You need to go one step farther. Open a program like Paint or Word, and right click to paste or hit CTRL+V. The image will appear and you can alter, resize, and print your liking. Find our Print Screen Tutorial here.

 

Tech Tip #2: Hide Your Program: Need to quickly hide the window you're currently working in when someone comes up to your desk? For Mac, click Command+H. For PC, click ALT+Space+N. Your window will be hidden until you open it again from your task bar. Click CTRL+F4 to completely close a window clickly. Other keyboard shortcuts here.

 

Tech Tip #3: Quickly Add the Date a Word Document: Save time while working with this little Word shortcut! To quickly add the date to a Word document, press CTRL+ALT+D. Find more keyboard shortcuts for Word.

This month's blog:  May - The Month of Appreciation With Mothers' Day, Teacher Appreciation Week and Memorial Day, one can say that May is a month of appreciation and showing gratitude. This month's blog examines how you can show appreciation and "have an attitude of gratitude" at home or in school. Additional resources are given supporting the subjects of Appreciation and Gratitude.
Internet4classrooms.com is a free educational portal for teachers, parents, homeschoolers and students. Visitors come from around the world to find Internet resources for their educational needs.
