Chamber Welcomes New Board Members
The Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the appointment of five new board members. Maggie Smith, Randy Logue and Phil Long were elected to serve three year terms effective January 1, 2014. Paxton Poitevint and David White were elected to fill unexpired terms effective immediately.

One of the major keys to the success of a voluntary organization is the sustained commitment of its Board of Directors.  By agreeing to serve on the Board, the responsibilities that are associated with this leadership position are significant.  Directors are invited to join the Board because of their leadership skills, their desire to enhance the effectiveness of the Chamber and their ability to interest others in doing so. We have certainly found these qualities in all of our new Board Members and are excited to have them join our team.

Chamberfest

Come join your fellow Chamber Members at the Spring Hill Tree Farm Barn on Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. This is the Chamber's way of showing how much we appreciate our members! Chamber Celebrates Agriculture
Pictured: Alec Poitevint
The Bainbridge-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce is finalizing plans for the annual Ag Appreciation Luncheon which will take place on November 15, 2013. Members of the agricultural community will be the special guests at this luncheon. Keynote speaker for the event will be Alec Poitevint, Chairman and President of Southeastern Minerals, Inc. With a diverse background of service in the agricultural industry including his current position as a Director of the Georgia Agribusiness Council, the Chamber is pleased to have Mr. Poitevint give the luncheon address.

The Chamber is also pleased to announce it has renamed the ag scholarship to honor the memory of the late Decatur County Extension Agent Mitchell May. Special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Al Cromer for their generous commitment to fund the scholarship. The economic impact of agriculture in Decatur County is huge and the Chamber is excited to celebrate this industry by honoring those who work in this sector of our community.

Exciting Changes for River Town Days
As most of you know, for the past 10 years River Town Days has been held Mother's Day Weekend. Beginning in 2014, that will change. The event has been moved to the weekend of March 14-16 and will be held in conjunction with the ESPN televised BASS Elite Series bass tournament that will take place on Lake Seminole and the Flint River that same weekend.

Some of the same activities and attractions will continue, but with the large crowds that the BASS Elite Series is expected to bring with them, there will be much more to offer including more activities and bigger entertainment. We are very excited about the changes, and can't wait to make the 2014 River Town Days the biggest and best one yet!

In 2003, the idea of a sit down BBQ Restaurant came to life. It began with owner Russell Boyd and 4 employees (2 full-time & 2 part-time).

Tell us something about your business that others don't know.
We offer full service catering. All of our meats are smoked with pecan or hickory wood and all of our side items are handmade. We have been in business for 10 years. Since the Reader's Choice Awards began, we have won best BBQ in Bainbridge 3 years in a row.
