Nomination Slate Presented
In accordance with the by-laws of the Bainbridge-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce, the Nominating Committee is tasked annually with preparing a slate of nominations for Board of Directors candidates, which in turn shall be presented to the membership. Three candidates are being presented to serve three (3) year board terms beginning January 2014 and expiring December 2016. They are: Randy Logue, Maggie Smith, and Phil Long.
Additional names of candidates can be nominated by petition bearing the genuine signatures of at least ten (10) qualified members of the Chamber. Such petition shall be filed with the Nominating Committee within ten (10) days after this notice has been given. The determination of the Nominating committee as to the legality of the petition(s) shall be final. If no petition is filed within the designated period, the nominations shall be closed and the nominated slate of candidates shall be declared elected by the Board of Directors at their regular September Board meeting.

Ag Appreciation Luncheon
The Bainbridge-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce is making plans to celebrate the county's largest industry, agriculture. On November 15, members of the agriculture community will be the special guests at an Ag Appreciation Luncheon in their honor. Keynote speaker for the event will be Alec Poitevint, Chairman and President of Southeastern Minerals, Inc. Mr. Poitevint has a diverse background of service in the agricultural industry and currently serves as a Director of the Georgia Agribusiness Council. In addition to a great meal and program, another highlight of the luncheon is recognizing an outstanding Ag Man and Ag Woman for their contributions to Decatur County agriculture.
The Chamber is currently accepting nominations for the 2013 Ag Man and Ag Woman recipients. To be considered as a candidate for the award, a nominee should be an outstanding leader in the field of agriculture in Decatur County with proven contributions to the agricultural industry and community. Nominations should be submitted by the September 20, 2013 deadline. Please contact the Chamber office at 246-4774 for a nomination form or download a form from the Chamber's website www.bainbridgegachamber.com.
The economic impact of agriculture in Decatur County is huge and the Chamber is excited to celebrate this industry by honoring those who make up this sector of our community.

Chamber Welcomes Newest Employee
We would like to welcome Shyla Deen, originally from Bainbridge, as our new Executive Assistant. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education in 2009 at Thomas University and her Master's degree in Elementary Reading and Literacy in 2011 at Walden University. She was previously employed as a certified substance abuse counselor at Bainbridge Probation Substance Abuse Treatment Center.
Shyla is married to Patrick Deen and they have two children, Mason and Isabella. She feels her position with the Chamber of Commerce will fulfill her passion for working with the public and being actively involved within our community. My husband and I purchased the business in August 2010 after the previous owner moved her office to Tallahassee.
Tell us something about your business that others don't know.
We offer grooming and boarding for dogs and cats, and we have a wide variety of pet products. We will order items requested if we don't carry it. We also offer Sunday pick-up for boarded pets.
How does the Chamber support your business?
We feel it's a great benefit to support the local community and other businesses as well as our business. Chamber membership is great for networking with others and for learning more about local businesses.
