Marielle Mauri is a remarkable girl. On October 19th, she did something that many other kids her ago do, she had a party to celebrate her 9th birthday. What makes her remarkable is what she chose to do with her party. She chose to use her birthday party as a way to make a difference in other people's lives.

Marielle sent out invitations to her ice skating party that read: "I was hoping you could donate to A Woman's Place instead of giving me presents. Please help me make the world a better place."

She had done her research. When she had decided that she wanted to donate her birthday to a good cause, she compiled a list of local organizations and visited each of their websites. When she watched the video about Brenda's story on the website of A Woman's Place (AWP), she made her decision.

Marielle collected nearly $650 in cash and gift card donations and more than $1,000 worth of jewelry, paper products, cleaning supplies, and other wish list items!

When she arrived at the AWP administrative office to deliver all of the items she collected, she was greeted by a large group of staff, volunteers, and AWP clients. They were so moved by what she did, and so grateful for her generosity, that they surprised her with a small party, complete with cake, cards, and a few small gifts.

Everyone at AWP is so thankful for Marielle. It is so encouraging to know that there is such a thoughtful and selfless young lady in the community. She accomplished what she set out to do - she made a difference in her community. She truly is an inspiration and a wonderful role model.

THANK YOU MARIELLE!
