She is a dedicated member of A Woman's Place (AWP) Young Adult Advisory Board (YAAB). She co-chaired AWP's 3rd annual Dance Marathon. She mentors young children at AWP's shelter. She is Rebecca Rosati, an 18-year-old Bucks County student who believes that youth violence is "a serious problem that is overlooked by many". She also believes that, by getting involved in her community, she can be part of the solution. That YOUth violence prevention starts with YOU and me.

According to the National Youth Survey, most serious violent acts are first perpetrated between ages 12-20. The Bureau of Justice Statistics lists women ages 16-24 as most likely to experience intimate partner violence. The CDC cites homicide as the second-leading cause of death among 10-24-yr-olds. But the CDC also tells us that youth violence rates have dropped in recent years - perhaps because of community prevention initiatives that have been springing up across the country.

This week, March 18th-22nd, 2013 AWP recognizes National Youth Violence Prevention Week (NYVPW), a campaign to raise awareness about youth violence, educate the public about preventing and reducing it, and highlight the positive roles of young people, like Rebecca, in their communities. Check out National SAVE's website for more information about NYVPW, and consider how YOU can follow Rebecca's lead in creating a safer tomorrow for today's youth.
