Sadly, years of experience as Bucks County's only domestic violence organization have taught   A Woman's Place (AWP) that our community is not immune to the silent epidemic of teen dating violence, an issue affecting one in three teens nationwide. What's more, at least two-thirds of dating violence victims never tell anyone about the abuse they've suffered, according to BreakTheCycle.org.  The good news?  The teens on AWP's Young Adult Advisory Board (YAAB) are breaking that silence.

Throughout the month of February, Teen Dating Violence Awareness & Prevention Month (TDVAPM), YAAB will be making it known that no one deserves to be abused, especially by a dating partner - not emotionally, not physically, not sexually, not digitally. For the next 21 days, join AWP and YAAB in bringing this issue to light by:

  • Signing our anti-violence pledge (we have over 25 signatures, help us reach 100 by Feb. 28th!)
  • Attending our 3rd annual Dance Marathon on Saturday, Feb. 16th, 2013 from 5-10 p.m. at thePlumsteadville Volunteer Fire Co. Banquet Hall.  Bucks County 7th-12th Graders, download your registration packet here!
  • Posting status updates about TDVAPM on your Facebook and Twitter account(s).
  • Inviting a guest speaker from AWP to discuss teen dating violence with a group you are part of. Contact Christina Baer at 215.343.9241 x 110 or cbaer@awomansplace.org for more information.

It's February.
