2011 Volunteer Appreciation Logo

Over the past few years, we have found our hearts in volunteering. Working with A Woman's Place (AWP) has gifted us with the opportunity to collaborate with other teens in Bucks County to make a difference in our community, especially in the realm of domestic and dating violence.

Teen dating violence, in particular, is an issue that is important and relevant to us: One out of every three teens experiences some form of abuse in his or her relationships. This is a problem that can affect all of us, but it is also one that can be resolved. AWP's Young Adult Advisory Board (YAAB) has made it its mission to raise awareness of teen dating violence and put an end to it in our community.

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. With the goal of raising awareness of this issue, YAAB is holding its 3rd annual Dance Marathon on Saturday, February 16from 5-10 p.m. at the Plumsteadville Volunteer Fire Company Banquet Hall (5064 Stump Rd., Plumsteadville, PA 18949). As a committee, we have selected the theme of Valentine's Day. We want to stress the importance of love and respect, and promote the understanding of healthy dating relationships.

Through our work within the Bucks County community and AWP, we have discovered our passion for giving back. We encourage you to do the same by supporting us, YAAB, and victims of teen dating violence by attending AWP's 3rd annual Dance Marathon or sponsoring the event. For more information, click here or contact Fundraising Manager Jenny Salisbury at 215.343.9241 x108 or [email protected].

Thanks and we hope to see you there!
