National Stalking Awareness Month 2013

 

·         6.6 million people are stalked in one year in the United States.

·         The majority of stalking victims are stalked by someone they know.

·         66% of female victims and 41% of male victims of stalking are stalked by a current or former intimate partner.

·         About 1 in 5 female victims and 1 in 14 male victims experienced stalking between the ages of 11 and 17.

 

January is National Stalking Awareness Month. On behalf of A Woman's Place (AWP) I invite you to join me in recognizing stalking as a crime that affects too many victims each year. Fight this crime by learning more about it.

 

Stalking is difficult to recognize, investigate, and prosecute. As a community, we must do all that we can to understand stalking and support victims. If more of us learn to recognize stalking, we have a better chance of protecting ourselves and our loved ones and preventing tragedies.
